Job Description Summary
Organization's Summary Statement: The Women's Health Interdisciplinary Research Collaborative (WHIRC) at the University of Maryland is a campus-wide initiative to foster interdisciplinary research, educate future leaders, and inform policy and practice to improve the lives of women across their lifespan. WHIRC will support women’s health research across campus through seminars, seed funding, career development programs, and experiential learning opportunities. In addition, WHIRC will run a pilot project focused on maternal cardiovascular health in which community-engaged public health, education, and bioengineering approaches will be integrated using advanced AI. This initiative is funded through UMD's Grand Challenge initiative.WHIRC is seeking a Program Coordinator (Faculty Specialist) with strong program management, communication, and writing skills, along with a desire to apply those skills to women's health research. This position reports to WHIRC leadership and is responsible for administration, coordination, and reporting for WHIRC initiatives. The coordinator will also liaise with campus administrative units to support project activities and assist with external stakeholder outreach. Responsibilities include project management, research and logistical coordination, meeting and seminar organization, strategic communication and website management, reporting activities, and internal and external grants administration support. This is a full-time 12-month appointment, renewable for up to three years based on annual performance evaluations and continued project funding.
Physical Demands: • Work is performed in a normal office environment, including the operation of standard office equipment (e.g., computer, keyboard, copier)
• This position frequently presents information through oral or written communication
• Minimal travel to assist with, attend, or manage meetings on and off campus

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in health science, biological science, public health, psychology, biomedical engineering, or closely related field (Masters preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in research coordination, research administration, or a related academic/scientific role (experience supporting large, multi-PI sponsored research and training grant programs preferred, e.g., NIH and NSF awards)
• Experience with IRB/REB protocol submissions, amendments, continuing reviews, and human subjects compliance
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical documents, reports, and correspondence
• Experience with data management and statistical analysis platforms such as Qualtrics, REDCap, SPSS, Stata, R, or equivalent
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and electronic research administration systems (e.g., eRA Commons, Grants.gov)
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in data entry, documentation, and regulatory recordkeeping
• Experience with budget tracking, financial reporting, and expenditure monitoring (e.g., Workday experience preferred)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-investigator, team-based research environment
