Junior Accountant - Fixed Term role until March 2028

Finance plays a critical role in helping the business make informed decisions, maintain strong financial controls, and deliver sustainable value. The Trading Settlements team supports this by ensuring financial transactions are managed accurately, efficiently, and in line with established controls and governance. Working with colleagues and stakeholders across the organization, you will help uphold the integrity of financial information and contribute to the success of Shell's business.
What you’ll be doing
As a Junior Accountant within the Trading Settlements team, you will play a key role in supporting the accurate and timely execution of accounting and settlement activities across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
Your role will focus on the following principal accountabilities:
- Execute daily accounting activities, reconciliations, and period-end close tasks accurately and in accordance with established service standards, KPIs, and timelines.
- Support effective cash collection and financial operations by monitoring receivables and ensuring timely resolution of outstanding balances.
- Maintain compliance with established processes, controls, and ways of working, while supporting audit requirements through accurate and timely documentation and reporting.
- Identify process improvement opportunities, mitigate risks, and develop a strong understanding of end-to-end finance processes to enhance operational efficiency and control effectiveness.
- Resolve process-related issues and customer disputes in a timely manner by collaborating with stakeholders and following established escalation procedures.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships through effective communication, providing insights, guidance, and support across teams, functions, and organizational levels.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, efficiency, and ways of working.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing business needs, processes, and tools.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field
- Early careers professionals are welcome to apply with at least 2 years of relevant experience
- Fundamental knowledge of end-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
- Fluency in English at B2/C1 level
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
- Basic digital proficiency in Excel essentials (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Highly analytical with strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to process improvement and automation
- Great attention to detail and committed to handling data aligned with company’s compliance standards
- Willing to work on a hybrid model with a minimum of 3 days on-site
- Amenable to a fixed-term employment contract
