WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The Jr. Accountant is responsible for performing basic and advanced accounting functions, including assisting in the closing of the monthly books and records of the company and the analysis of its monthly income statement and balance sheet through various accounting methods. This position also acts as a back-up to other Accounting personnel as needed.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

•  Complete monthly accounting journal entries, including accruals
•  Reconcile various monthly banking statements
•  Manage and execute internal accounting systems, including corporate credit cards, financial consolidations, general ledgers, fixed assets, and employee expenses
•  Prepare and distribute monthly customer invoices, with necessary follow-up
•  Provide audit support and requested documentation
•  Maintain detailed schedules for audit requirements
•  Support inventory management and reconciliation, including costing and WIP transfers
•  Handle job/product costing tasks
•  Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities
•  Process bi-weekly employee payroll
•  Provide accounting/financial information for cost control analysis to department heads
•  Manage fixed assets, including capitalization and depreciation
•  Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal budgetary reporting requirements
•  Maintain compliance with IFRS and accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls and transaction facilitation
•  Exhibit a professional, friendly demeanor reflective of the company culture
•  Handle confidential matters discreetly and professionally

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

•  Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study & working towards a professional designation (either graduated or in progress)
•  Three plus years of experience in an Accounting or Finance role. Experience working for a manufacturing company and/or Inventory preferred
•  Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. Expert knowledge of Excel and familiarity in Dynamics 365 is preferred
•  Fluent in spoken and written English with advanced communication skills
•  Proficient multitasking and time management in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment, while maintaining flexibility with shifting deadlines
•  Maintains the highest standard of personal conduct in all duties 
•  Collaborates effectively with personnel at all levels, both internal and external
•  Applies creativity and latitude to problem-solving while demonstrating excellent organizational skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

•  Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and components, up to 25 pounds 
•  Operate basic office equipment
•  Sit and/or stand for long periods of time, up to 8 - 10 hours a day 
•  Walk/travel to production areas while wearing appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), minimum includes safety glasses, steel toe shoes/boots and a hard hat
