Dispatcher (Transportation)

Amentum is seeking a Dispatcher (Transportation) to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Dispatcher will provide efficient and timely dispatching services for transportation vehicles and equipment while ensuring proper documentation, inspections, and compliance with established guidelines.
Job Responsibilities:
• Provide efficient dispatching services for transportation vehicles and equipment to ensure timely vehicle dispatch in compliance with all requirements.
• Ensure all B-Pool, C-Pool, and rental vehicles are used exclusively by U.S. Government personnel.
• Coordinate and dispatch vehicles and personnel for scheduled and unscheduled trips, ensuring services are provided within 15 minutes during normal working hours and within two hours after normal working hours.
• Perform vehicle and equipment inspection procedures at check-out and return, focusing on the condition of the vehicle or equipment; note any discrepancies on relevant documentation.
• Ensure proper completion and maintenance of all required forms, including NAVFAC Form 11260/4, NAVFAC Form 9-11240/13, or the Operator’s Daily Checklist (ODCL), as applicable.
• Maintain accurate records of all dispatched vehicles and equipment, including usage logs, mileage records, and maintenance requirements.
• Communicate effectively with transportation operators, ensuring clarity on scheduled trips, vehicle assignments, and any special instructions.
• Provide excellent customer service to U.S. Government personnel, addressing questions and resolving scheduling or transportation-related concerns promptly.
• Monitor vehicle and equipment availability to ensure optimal utilization across the transportation fleet.
• Identify and report any unresolved vehicle discrepancies or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel for repair or resolution.
• Assist in implementing and enforcing transportation policies to ensure service standard compliance and efficient operations.
• Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct. The role demands consistent, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in dispatching, transportation coordination, or logistics services.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of transportation and vehicle dispatch systems and processes.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to ensure efficient allocation of vehicles and timely completion of assignments.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection procedures and equipment maintenance requirements.
• Proficiency in completing and maintaining accurate records, including dispatch logs, inspection sheets, and mileage forms.
• Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English, to work closely with operators, contractors, and government personnel.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment with minimal supervision.
• Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
• Valid country driver’s license.
• Familiarity with NAVFAC Form 11260/4, NAVFAC Form 9-11240/13, and other DoD or government forms for vehicle operations and inspections.
• Experience in government or military transportation services, particularly with vehicle dispatch and fleet management.
• Proficient in digital dispatching systems and software for tracking vehicle assignments and operator data.
• Strong understanding of DoD transportation policies and procedures.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
