Our team members are dedicated to meeting the needs of our communities as we work together, creating an environment where collaboration is critical and personal accountability is expected. The Opportunity
Deseret Book Company is a leading retailer and publisher of faith-centered books, media, and products, operating retail stores, a robust ecommerce platform (DeseretBook.com), and Bookshelf+, our growing digital subscription service. We're looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to serve as the operational backbone of our growth and lifecycle marketing efforts.
Position Summary
We're seeking a detail-driven, analytically sharp Digital Marketing Manager to own execution of growth campaigns, lifecycle marketing, paid and organic media coordination, and cross-functional project management. This is not a strategy-only role, you'll be hands-on building launch plans, coordinating across internal teams and external vendors, managing timelines, running A/B tests, and reporting on performance with clear, actionable insights.
This role works at the intersection of ecommerce, retail, product, development, creative, and media. If marketing campaigns are the engine, this role keeps every piston firing on time, on spec, and on budget — while continuously finding ways to make the engine run faster.
Core Responsibilities
Growth Campaigns & Conversion
- Translate growth strategies into integrated launch plans across paid media, email, social, retail, and owned channels.
- Lead execution of gifting, referral, and conversion-funnel initiatives end-to-end.
- Partner with Ecommerce, Retail, Product, and Development to optimize landing pages, checkout, and post-purchase experiences.
- Own pre-launch QA — links, pixels, promo codes, UTMs confirmed before every launch.
Lifecycle Marketing & Retention
- Partner with Email Marketing Strategist on automated journeys (onboarding, post-purchase, retention, win-back) for DeseretBook.com and Bookshelf+.
- Define audience segments; develop and run A/B tests; apply findings to improve lifecycle performance.
- Track engagement, conversion, retention, and revenue across all lifecycle programs.
Paid, Organic & Traditional Media Coordination
- Coordinate paid, organic, and traditional media campaigns — deliver assets, confirm specs/timelines, ensure tracking is live.
- Evaluate channel performance (impressions, engagement, ROAS, cross-channel lift); surface insights for media mix decisions.
Marketing Promotions
- Manage print/offline placements (package inserts, magalogs, QR codes, trackable URLs) with same tracking rigor as digital.
Project, Vendor & Cross-Functional Management
- Own timelines, requirements, testing, approvals, and launch readiness across concurrent campaigns.
- Serve as day-to-day contact for developers, production partners, and media vendors.
- Maintain campaign documentation in Asana; proactively surface risks and resolve gaps.
Performance Reporting & Optimization
- Maintain weekly performance reporting across all assigned campaigns and Deliver weekly performance reports with clear insights and action plans — not just data.
- Monitor conversion rate, CPA, engagement, referral activity, scan rates, retention, and attributed revenue.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years in digital/growth/performance marketing (retail, ecommerce, or subscription preferred).
- Hands-on experience executing integrated campaigns across paid media, email, social, and owned channels.
- Strong lifecycle/retention marketing skills, automated journeys, segmentation, A/B testing.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-team projects with concurrent timelines.
- Proficient with GA4, UTM/conversion tracking, attribution models, and email platforms (MailChimp, Klaviyo, or equivalent).
- Comfortable with Asana (strongly preferred) and external vendor coordination.
- Detail-oriented, specs, timelines, and tracking must be right.
- Strong written communication, clear briefs, concise reports, actionable recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in faith-based, book/publishing, or family-oriented consumer brands.
- Familiarity with subscription business models and subscriber lifecycle management (acquisition, onboarding, retention, win-back).
- Experience with referral and gifting program mechanics.
- Familiarity with retail marketing (in-store materials, package inserts, magalogs).
- Experience with Tapfiliate or other affiliate tracking platforms.
- Exposure to app-based marketing (push notifications, in-app messaging, app store optimization).
