We're hiring a Retail Store Manager and Assistant Manager at Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful Snow Lodge. Experience the "secret season" of Yellowstone – an unforgettable winter adventure awaits!
Job Summary:
Manage the store in the proper and efficient operation of the store, including but not limited to, inventory levels and loss prevention, proactive labor needs and levels, and proper floor coverage and guest service. Communicates issues and needs to Retail Support Staff. Supervises and trains staff in all aspects of paperwork requirements, cash handling policy, L3 Training requirements, and proper floor coverage and guest service.
The Details:Position Type: SeasonalSeason Dates: Early November 2026 to Mid March 2027 (depending on location)
Pay:
- $1,764.00/bi-weekly (Manager)
- $1,556.00/bi-weekly (Assistant Manager)
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
Retail Store Manager
- In cooperation with the Location Manager, and the Retail Director and Asst. Director, oversee the retail operation at assigned location.
- Provide and ensure excellent guest service by adhering to Xanterra’s hospitality standards.
- Ensure that all sales associates are adhering to all cash handling policies.
- Demonstrate and train product knowledge and good sales techniques by performing suggestive selling and add-on sales. Follow up with staff to ensure add-on sales are occurring.
- Ensure Staff are actively assisting guests on the sales floor; working in their floor zones if assigned.
- Ensure that the sales floor is kept clean; which includes sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
- Ensure all displays are kept stocked, neat and clean within the guidelines of the Retail Merchandising Manual.
- Ensure that accurate helpful information is given to guests.
- Discuss concerns only with the Location Manager or appropriate Support Staff. Discuss concerns only with the Gift Shop Manager, Location Manager or appropriate Support Staff.
- Alert the Location Manager and Support Staff to shrinkage, guest problems and concerns as necessary.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with Support Staff, Location Manager, other location department managers, other Assistant Manager and subordinates.
- Maintain accurate shop records: reports, transfers, payroll and inventory control.
- Follow all policies to receive direct deliveries from suppliers and process the necessary documentation. Make certain that paperwork is routed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Manage scheduling, supervising and developing gift shop personnel. Maintain proper employee files and assist with evaluations (HIG’s).
- Ensure that registers are routinely cleaned. Report all register issues promptly.
- Comply with Xanterra’s Environmental Management Systems and look for ways to improve the impact your job has on the environment.
- Maintain a safe work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Assistant Retail Store Manager

Qualifications
- Knowledge of Current POS and Inventory system and ability to troubleshoot common problems.
- Able to perform all duties of a Sales Associate. Be accurate with cash handling, daily reporting procedures and inventory control.
- Able to coach employees to maintain high and consistent standards in the gift shop.
- Understanding of a retail operation in a high traffic seasonal environment.
- Must be able to foster cooperation among a diverse workforce. Work well with all staff members.
- Should have a basic knowledge and understanding of souvenirs, gifts, jewelry and other products sold within Yellowstone National Park.
- Able to work with a minimum of supervision. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrate excellent sales approach and skills.
- Demonstrate awareness of general gift shop security and theft prevention.
- Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and flexible shifts.
- Must pass alcohol sale certification to be able to sell alcohol.
Additional Qualification for Retail Store Manager:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Represents the Retail Department in dealing with guest problems and concerns.
- Determine personnel schedules and payroll; delegate and supervise shop assignments.
- Coach employees, as needed, within the guidelines of Company policy.
