The University is now looking for a high caliber professional to join our Staff Quarter and Student Hostel (SQSH) unit of Building Services (operation & maintenance) team.
The appointee will oversee and manage the technical operation, administrative workflows and maintenance of the University’s mechanical and electrical installations across SQSH, particularly on lighting and power distribution systems, emergency generators, EV chargers, PV system, power meters etc. to ensure all accommodation areas are operated in a safe, reliable and efficient manner.
The appointee will be responsible for the following duties:
- Supervise and monitor the progress of in-house staff, maintenance contractors and service providers executing duties across campus or off campus quarters and hostels;
- Lead and monitor the performance of maintenance contractors, proactively identifying areas for operational improvement;
- Conduct regular system audits and reviews, updating maintenance procedures to maintain high service quality and engineering standards.
- Review technical drawings, material submissions, method statements, and T&C reports to ensure compliance with project specifications and maintenance feasibility;
- Design and prepare tender documents, work orders and purchasing orders including technical specifications and drawings for repair, maintenance, improvement and upgrading works;
- Liaise and coordinate closely with internal departments, end-users and contractors regarding planned maintenance, daily operation, replacement, improvement and upgrading works;
- Ensure the consistent delivery of efficient, responsive and effective services to all residents and university users;
- Manage, review and administrate the maintenance contracts;
- Ensure compliance with statutory and safety requirements and create a culture of safety first across all operations; and
- Undertake other duties as assigned by seniors.
Applicants should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline plus at least 5 years of relevant experience, of which 3 years must be at a supervisory level. A good command of both spoken and written Chinese (including Putonghua) and English as well as AutoCAD application is essential. The ideal candidate should also have good analytical and organizational skills, strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently. Holding a Registered Electrical Worker (REW) license (Grade B or above) is highly preferred and a proven track record in property operation and maintenance in electrical installation in a sizable organization will be considered an advantage.
Appointment to the position will normally be on two-year fixed term contract basis. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
