Are you a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? Do you enjoy building high-performing teams, solving complex challenges, and driving operational excellence?

As a Production Superintendent, you will play a critical leadership role in powering a 24/7 manufacturing operation—owning production performance, driving quality, and shaping the future of your team. This is your opportunity to make a visible impact on safety, productivity, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with plant leadership.

You’ll lead from the front—developing people, optimizing processes, and ensuring every shift delivers results aligned with Johns Manville’s commitment to safety, quality, and performance. In this role, you’ll also serve as a trusted leader capable of stepping in for the Plant Manager when needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Take ownership of manufacturing operations—overseeing production, product quality, and raw material management for a high-output, 24-hour production line
  • Lead and inspire a team of over 100 employees, creating a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Drive operational performance by aligning resources, schedules, and priorities to meet production goals
  • Partner with leadership to develop budgets, control costs, and manage performance metrics that impact the bottom line
  • Optimize processes by leveraging data—monitoring key indicators like downtime, material usage, and production costs to fuel smarter decisions
  • Ensure all production activities meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and product quality expectations
  • Champion safety as a core value—actively working to achieve zero incidents and creating a culture where safety comes first
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational and personnel challenges—leading root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions
  • Plan and schedule work to maximize equipment utilization and maintain peak productivity
  • Step into plant-wide leadership responsibilities when needed, including supporting or serving as acting Plant Manager
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the operation
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support plant success

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, engineering, or a related field with at least 5 years of operational leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams
  • A problem-solver mindset with proven success diagnosing and resolving process issues
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with plant leadership and cross-functional teams
  • A track record of leading change and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience managing a workforce of approximately 115 hourly and 8 salaried employees, including performance management, compensation decisions, hiring, and terminations

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds as needed
  • Minimal travel (0–10 days per year)
  • Work in a dynamic manufacturing setting with exposure to:
    • Heat, cold, and high noise levels
    • Moving mechanical equipment
    • Heights and physically active conditions (walking, climbing, etc.)
    • Dust, mist, gas, or fumes

You must be able to perform the essential functions of this role, with reasonable accommodations available where applicable.

Why This Role Stands Out

This isn’t just a production leadership role—it’s a chance to:

  • Make a real impact on safety, performance, and team development
  • Lead at scale in a high-visibility manufacturing environment
  • Grow your career alongside strong plant leadership
  • Be part of a culture that values innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
