Technology Project Manager
Department: Internal Technology
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Oxford, UK
Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of technology, enterprise systems and SaaS projects, from initiation and planning through to implementation, adoption and closure.
- Define and maintain clear project scope, outcomes, delivery plans, budgets, milestones, dependencies and success measures.
- Establish proportionate project governance, including effective management of risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and decisions.
- Provide clear, concise and decision-focused reporting to project sponsors, governance forums and senior stakeholders.
- Manage changes to project scope, timelines and cost, ensuring that impacts and trade-offs are understood and agreed.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders to understand their objectives, processes, requirements and constraints.
- Translate between business requirements and technology delivery, helping stakeholders and technical teams develop a shared understanding of the required outcomes.
- Facilitate workshops, planning sessions and project meetings that create clarity, ownership and timely decision-making.
- Ensure projects deliver the required business, process and organisational change, including appropriate readiness, communications, training and adoption activity.
- Maintain a strong focus on measurable business outcomes, user experience and sustainable improvements rather than technology implementation alone.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across Enterprise Systems, Architecture, Data, Information Security and IT Operations, alongside relevant business subject-matter experts.
- Lead project teams through a matrix structure, creating accountability and momentum without relying on direct line-management authority.
- Work with technical leads to ensure solutions are deliverable, secure, supportable and aligned with Aurora’s wider technology direction.
- Identify and actively manage cross-team dependencies, resource constraints and competing priorities.
- Support technology and SaaS supplier selection, including requirements definition, evaluation and implementation planning.
- Manage implementation partners, vendors and other third parties against agreed scope, deliverables, timelines, costs and quality expectations.
- Support commercial management throughout delivery, including budget tracking, forecasting, purchase management and assessment of change requests.
- Define and coordinate appropriate handover, service readiness and post-implementation support activities.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to the continued development of Aurora’s project delivery standards, tools and governance.
- Apply project methodologies pragmatically, using sufficient structure and control while remaining responsive to the needs of a fast-moving organisation.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Demonstrable experience delivering SaaS implementations, enterprise systems projects or other technology-enabled business change, throughout the full delivery lifecycle, from definition and planning through implementation, adoption and transition into operational support.
- Strong project planning and governance capability, including the management of partners, vendors, scope, budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions and reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills, with the confidence to work with senior leaders, business teams and technical specialists.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams and delivering through a matrix structure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics clearly in business language and produce concise, decision-focused updates and achievable technology deliverables.
- Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and maintain momentum.
- A pragmatic approach to project methodology, governance and problem-solving, focused on achieving outcomes rather than following process for its own sake.
- The resilience and adaptability to operate effectively where priorities, requirements and ways of working continue to evolve.
- A proactive approach to ownership, with the confidence to create structure, challenge constructively and drive decisions when required.
- Experience working with Microsoft technologies, such as Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure, Microsoft 365 or Power BI.
- Familiarity with change management, business readiness and user-adoption approaches.
- Experience working in a high-growth, international or multi-entity organisation.
