Job Description: Legal HR Generalist
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Legal HR Generalist to join our team and serve as a key bridge between our Human Resources department and Legal functions. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who is passionate about talent management, compliance, and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace environment. You will play an integral role in ensuring legal compliance in HR policies and procedures while addressing the needs of our diverse workforce.
Responsibilities
HR Functions:
- Act as a point of contact for HR-related queries, offering guidance and support on various HR issues, including compliance, employee relations, and benefits administration.
- Collaborate with the talent acquisition team to design and implement equitable hiring practices that attract and retain diverse top-tier talent.
- Develop, execute, and maintain inclusive HR policies and practices in compliance with local, state, and federal employment regulations.
- Coordinate training programs focused on DE&I, leadership development, and employee well-being.
- Manage employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, performance evaluations, and offboarding.
Legal Compliance Functions:
- Serve as a liaison between the HR and Legal teams to address workplace legal concerns like contracts, employee disciplinary actions, and employment agreements.
- Conduct periodic audits of HR records and compliance metrics to ensure adherence to all applicable legal standards.
- Provide expert advice on labor laws, HR policies, and regulated employment law updates.
- Investigate employee complaints and disputes impartially and recommend sound resolutions while maintaining confidentiality.
- Support workplace investigations and prepare reports, making evidence-based recommendations on any required resolutions.
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Partner with leadership teams to align HR practices with overall organizational goals while adhering to legal benchmarks.
- Ensure a consistent and inclusive approach to organizational policies, protecting both employee interests and legal frameworks.
- Champion initiatives related to employee well-being, engagement, and cultural development.
- Assist in integrating HR legal processes into project design and development to create a seamless operating structure.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of professional experience in Human Resources, with exposure to employee relations and talent management. Legal HR experience is highly valued.
- Knowledge of labor and employment laws, HR compliance standards, and HR best practices. SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of Human Resources principles and applicable employment laws.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information with the utmost professionalism and integrity.
- Demonstrable problem-solving abilities—an analytic thinker who can offer actionable solutions.
- Skilled in using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- A passion for advocating diversity, equality, and inclusion within workplace settings.
Day-to-day
- Meet with managers and employees to address HR concerns and offer professional guidance.
- Review and update HR practices to ensure alignment with current legal standards and DE&I initiatives.
- Conduct compliance training sessions on HR and workplace ethical issues.
- Provide support for legal inquiries related to contracts, employee performance, and workplace disputes.
- Manage employee documentation, including performance reviews, disciplinary action reports, and employee complaint logs in an organized, secure manner.
- Collaborate with the talent acquisition and compensation teams to ensure job postings and compensation packages are equitable and competitive.
