Position Information
The Research Assistant performs independent research activities requiring knowledge in the field of Weed Science and will require consistent use of discretion and judgement. Prepares proposals for funding agencies, operations of research equipment. Trains students and other lab/field/greenhouse
personnel in research. Assists in planning and executing research projects.
Responsibilities:
-Designs, plans, conducts and coordinates experiments in support of various research projects.
-Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques of routine research, keeping detailed records of data.
-Assists in planning and coordinating research projects.
-Uses computers and laboratory equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
-Training undergraduate, graduate, and non-affiliated student interns or laboratory, technical or field staff in research.
-Ensures proper maintenance to building and equipment are up to date.
-Ensures our lab spaces are compliant with EHS and other inspections.
-Helping program members with troubleshooting and maintenance as required.
-Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Experience:
-Two years of related experience in relevant field of research.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
-Attention to detail.
-Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software.
-Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.
Preferred Licenses or Certifications:
-Ability to obtain a Pesticide Applicator License.
-Ability to obtain a Drone License.
Additional Requirements:
-May have to work on the weekend and/or after hours.
-May travel as required.
