Why join us?
This is an opportunity to join Markets Middle Office Trade Controls as it transforms from a traditional reconciliation function toward a contemporary, global control environment.
You’ll contribute to a team using product expertise, automation, analytics and AI-enabled controls to strengthen proactive risk management and provide deeper insight to the business.
What you’ll be doing
Markets Middle Office Trade Controls is evolving into a modern, data-driven control function. By combining strong product expertise with automation, analytics and AI-enabled controls, the team is moving beyond traditional reconciliations to provide proactive risk management, deeper business insight and greater value to its interested parties.
As a Senior Analyst, you’ll undertake and supervise intraday, or T0, reconciliations across a range of tradable products. You’ll play an important role in protecting revenue, maintaining trade integrity and ensuring exceptions are investigated and resolved promptly.
You’ll work closely with Front Office colleagues, Markets platform teams and other support functions to resolve breaks, identify underlying causes and prevent issues from recurring. You’ll also contribute to the development of a forward-looking control environment that aims to predict, prevent and resolve issues before they affect the business.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking and monitoring intraday reconciliations across tradable products, including derivatives, foreign exchange, money markets, financial futures, bonds and repos.
- Investigating reconciliation breaks and exceptions, completing detailed analysis and supporting their timely resolution.
- Working with Front Office colleagues and support teams to request trade amendments, adjustments and updates.
- Ensuring T0 exceptions are cleared promptly to protect trade integrity and revenue.
- Completing root cause analysis across breaks, exceptions and associated reporting.
- Identifying trends and raising issues to relevant collaborators to help prevent recurrence.
- Using and updating automation tools with clear explanations of exceptions and the actions taken to resolve them.
- Working with Markets platform teams to understand and resolve systemic issues affecting Trade Controls.
- Reviewing reconciliations completed by colleagues to validate outcomes and retain control standards.
- Constructively challenging decisions and recommending improvements where appropriate.
- Following the daily control checklist and ensuring reconciliations, exceptions and reporting are completed by the end of the day.
- Supporting risk, control and audit activity in partnership with second- and third-line teams.
- Sharing technical knowledge and supporting colleagues to develop their understanding of products and control processes.
What we’re looking for
Essential skills and experience
- Solid understanding of Middle Office control frameworks, including reconciliations, exception management and reporting.
- Experience of investigating and resolving reconciliation breaks or trade exceptions.
- The ability to identify and mitigate risk through a robust understanding of reconciliation processes and their role within a control environment.
- Good product knowledge across one or more relevant areas, such as foreign exchange, money markets, derivatives, financial futures, bonds or repos.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify trends and complete root cause analysis.
- A strong understanding of risk, control and audit processes.
- The ability to communicate clearly with Front Office colleagues, internal stakeholders and support teams.
- Confidence reviewing work, constructively challenging decisions and recommending improvements.
- The ability to respond positively to changing business needs, systems, processes and requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work to daily control deadlines and maintain accurate records.
- A collaborative and professional approach, with the ability to guide and support colleagues.
And any experience of these would be great
- Experience of working within Markets, Markets Operations or a Middle Office environment.
- Knowledge across multiple tradable products, including derivatives, foreign exchange, money markets, financial futures, bonds and repos.
- Experience of working with trade-processing or Markets platforms.
- Experience of automation, analytics or data-led process improvement within a control environment.
- Experience of supporting internal or external audit activity.
- Experience of working with second- and third-line risk and control teams.
- Experience of coaching colleagues or supporting the development of technical knowledge.
- An understanding of AI-enabled controls or their potential application within operational risk management.
