Montgomery Parks — Southern Parks Division seeks a high-performing Administrative Specialist I with exceptional organizational and analytical skills to support administrative and operational functions at the Division’s Headquarters office.
Under general direction, provide critical administrative support across human resources, training, records management, and data analytics for the division. This role requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who excels at problem-solving, managing competing priorities, improving processes, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to support efficient division operations. The position offers training and skill-building that support ongoing growth and development.About the Southern Parks Division
The Southern Parks Division supports both local and regional recreation across some of the most densely populated areas of Montgomery County. With nearly 200 seasonal and career employees, four maintenance facilities, and five divisional programs, the division maintains over 200 parks and operates a large fleet of equipment to keep park facilities, athletic fields, trails, and playgrounds safe, functional, and ready for daily use. Employee Experience and Administrative
- Provide administrative support and guidance to employees while coordinating with HR and managing service requests.
- Develop and maintain forms, tools, reference materials, and employee process guides.
- Monitor administrative issues, streamline workflows, and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency.
Human Resources Administration
- Oversee staff training, compliance, evaluations, leave management, reassignments, and disciplinary actions.
- Approve timecards, process personnel requests, and maintain confidential employee records.
Training and Development Support
- Develop, coordinate, and administer employee training programs and organizational development initiatives.
- Manage training logistics, materials, records, databases, and completion tracking.
- Research training resources and collaborate with departments and partners to support workforce development.
Administrative Operations
- Maintain confidential records, electronic filing systems, and operational documentation.
- Coordinate meetings, events, logistics, and correspondence distribution.
- Prepare administrative documents and support daily office operations.
Important Skills and Characteristics
- Knowledge of administrative and HR practices, with strong organizational, communication, and workload management skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, maintain confidentiality, analyze issues, and recommend effective solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business applications, with strong attention to detail and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, Microsoft Office, and Adobe applications.
- Multilingual communication skills.
- Develop and document operational procedures.
- Experience working in parks or other large complex government organizations.
- Proficiency in Assets software and work order databases
Working Conditions:
- Works in an office setting; may work outdoors briefly on an incidental basis. Work is primarily sedentary and requires very light to light physical effort. May be subject to various job demands, such as a high volume of work and tight deadlines.

- The salary range shown reflects the approved pay range for this position. Starting salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

- Working Hours: 6:15 am – 2:45 pm (Monday-Friday)
1. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Finance, Business or any related field.
2. One (1) year of experience in human resource management, finance or any other related area of business administration.
3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 5 years.Classification Specification Administrative Specialist I
