Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Administrator to support the day-to-day delivery of our payroll and benefits services. You will be responsible for payroll changes and data entry, benefits and savings plan paperwork, confirmation of employment letters, reports, employee inquiries, records management, and general administrative support. You will also cross-train with and act as backup to the Payroll & Benefits Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
Enter, maintain, and verify employee payroll and benefits information in Workday and related benefits and administrative systems.
Administer savings plan processes, including employee enrolments, contribution changes, terminations, record updates, and related employee communications.
Complete and track benefit-related paperwork, forms, employee changes, supporting documents, and follow-up items.
Respond to employee inquiries in a timely and confidential manner.
Prepare, update, and distribute routine payroll, benefits, savings plan, and employee administration reports as required.
Maintain and update training materials, ensuring documentation remains accurate, current, and aligned with approved processes and plan information.
Maintain accurate electronic and physical employee records
Provide general administrative support to the payroll and benefits function, including filing, tracking, follow-up, preparing forms, and assisting with process improvements.
Cross-train with and provide backup support to the Payroll & Benefits Specialist when needed
Qualifications
Already attained or working towards a Payroll certification (e.g., PCP). Consideration will be given to candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with Canadian payroll, benefits, savings plans, HRIS, payroll, or benefits administration systems.
Prior experience with an HRIS, preferably Workday, and Microsoft Office applications
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Comfortable working with confidential information and following established processes, deadlines, and approval requirements.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Clear written and verbal communication skills and a professional, service-oriented approach to employee inquiries.
Willingness to learn payroll, benefits, savings plan, leave, and disability administration processes through training and cross-training.
