Description
Quality Engineer. (Springfield, TN). Ensure quality problems are resolved in a timely and effective manner without reoccurrence, Expert level in problem solving techniques (Customer / Internal Issues and Internal PPM) Ensure quality issues are resolved promptly and effectively to prevent recurrence, applying expert-level problem-solving techniques like 8D, PDCA, FTA, Ishikawa for customer and internal concerns; Monitor and manage quality performance for major customer-critical modules, including GM, Mercedes, Ford, and Stellentis (FCA), addressing field issues, scorecards, and chargebacks in compliance with customer timelines. Work with management to establish performance expectations for all our manufacturing processes and monitor those expectations for improvement. Collaborate with management to define performance expectations for manufacturing processes and continuously monitor results against established targets using key quality metrics, including Internal PPM (with Pareto Analysis), Customer PPM, COPQ, FPY, and field failure trends. Escalate abnormal patterns to cross-functional teams to ensure timely corrective and preventive actions. Work with APQP team on new product development. Support QE requirements for PPAP submissions and annual validation to the customer. Support new product development by collaborating with the APQP team and managing APQP and PPAP activities for product launches and process changes, including development and maintenance of Control Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, and inspection criteria. Monitor Customer key measurables to achieve customer satisfaction. Monitor key quality measurables and performance indicators, including customer PPM, warranty returns, field failure trends and field recalls, to ensure compliance with customer requirements and drive continuous improvement in customer satisfaction. Employ FMEA methodologies in Quality improvement activities. Quality Control and Inspection Method development and monitoring. Monitor and address any Layered Audit Findings, complete Layered Audits and Internal Audits on schedule. Monitor and address Layered Audit findings, and conduct Layered, VDA Process, Product, and Internal Audits on schedule to ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and IATF 16949 /ISO9001. Maintain key process documentation like Control Plan, PFMEA, Inspection Checklist, Work Instructions, Internal PPM Gap Closure, CRRN's, Customer Issue and Field issues internal logs. Provide daily updates at morning walkabout meetings concerning product and process concerns and continual improvements. Serve as primary contact for customer quality related concerns, PPAP, Annual Validation. Verifies and submits customer Corrective Actions in a timely, effective manner. Prepare technical statistical analysis of field failures, including diagnostic codes, customer faults, EOS, Inoperative conditions, and no-trouble-found cases, to calculate and propose technical factor percentages with the customer, and collaborate to reach a mutual agreement to reduce cost impact. Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field + 5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer or any related position in automotive engineering. Must have five years of experience in 8D problem solving, structured root cause analysis, statistical process control, and PFMEA. Must have certification for VDA 6.3 process auditor. Must have certification for IATF 16949:2016.
