Legal Intern

The Legal Intern is responsible for providing legal assistance and advice in support of GeoUnit operations, under the supervision of the GeoUnit Legal Counsel.

• * Handle day-to-day commercial contracts, contract disputes and corporate matters (e.g. registry filings, POA, etc).
• Interact with GeoUnit support functions and departments, ensuring involvement of Legal in all matters that may have a legal impact on SLB .
• Provide legal support to Operations to ensure compliance with local regulations and SLB Code of Conduct, including operations assurance reviews.
• Assists Legal Counsel to implement procedures, practices, guidelines and templates.
• Collaborate with Legal Counsel in litigation management.
• Assists Legal Counsel in managing and supervising outside counsel.
• Participate in department training and development initiatives and complete assigned training.
• Moderate involvement in business unit planning and operations as part of the management team.
• Supervise and coach Administrative Assistant, where applicable.
• Participate in strategic initiatives. Use and contribute to the Law Hub and help maintain the GeoUnit Legal intranet page.

• LLB and LEC
• Admitted to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in Suriname
• At least one (1) year working experience in a firm or In-House.
• Oil & Gas Industry experience considered and asset
• Advanced proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good analytical and critical thinking skills
• Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate excellent administrative and organizational skills
• Confidential, mature and adept at managing complex issues
