CNO (Chief Nursing Officer)

A large regional referral hospital is seeking an experienced Chief Nursing Officer to lead a complex inpatient enterprise serving patients from communities across the southern part of the state.

The organization combines major-hospital volume with the accessibility and accountability of a community-based system. Its nursing foundation is strong, executive leadership is investing in the future and the incoming CNO will have room to shape the next chapter.

• 500+ bed trauma center
• One of the highest-volume emergency departments in the state
• Approximately 5,000 deliveries annually
• A regional reach spanning roughly 19 counties and a substantial rural population
• An essential role in improving access for medically underserved patients

What the Boardroom Needs

• A proven CNO with the confidence to operate as the accountable nursing executive.
• A strategic thinker who can convert vision into specific tactics and measurable outcomes.
• A mentor capable of developing strong, long-tenured nursing leaders.
• A disciplined change leader who will build on recent success rather than reorganize for appearance's sake.
• RN and Master's degree required (if Master's not in Nursing, must hold BSN as well); Doctorate preferred

First-Year Priorities

Retention and leader engagement will define early success. The new CNO will also advance staffing optimization, shared governance, patient experience, technology adoption and the hospital's long-range journey toward Pathway to Excellence.

Location and Relocation

The position is based onsite in South Mississippi. Relocation is required and assistance is available, making this an attractive option for leaders who want greater scale without leaving the region.
