Team Lead Medical Assistant

Job Summary
The Team Lead Medical Assistant supports providers, Radiologic Technologists, and patients by overseeing day-to-day clinical and administrative operations within the center. This role blends leadership responsibilities with hands-on patient care, ensuring high-quality, efficient service delivery.
This position plays a key role in driving operational excellence, supporting team performance, and delivering an exceptional patient experience aligned with our mission and core values: Collaboration, Innovation, Diversity & Inclusion, Integrity, and Accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Provide day-to-day supervision and support to center team members
- Oversee daily operations including inventory, ordering, cash handling, and follow-ups
- Conduct monthly inventory and approve supply orders
- Support ROM with patient concerns and center-level escalations
- Participate in hiring processes and provide feedback on candidates
- Assist with performance management, coaching, and development of team members
- Support MOD (Manager on Duty) responsibilities including meetings, events, and weekend coverage
- Partner with leadership on KPIs and strategic initiatives (NPS, patient flow, registration accuracy, etc.)
- Assist with staffing coverage as needed, including last-minute callouts
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Perform patient intake, including medical history, vitals, and visit documentation
- Conduct point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG)
- Prepare patients for exams and support providers during visits
- Educate patients and provide updates on care status
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up care
- Complete patient registration, insurance verification, and co-pay collection
Administrative & Compliance
- Maintain accurate medical records and EHR documentation
- Ensure clinic cleanliness, stocking, and readiness
- Perform opening/closing procedures and end-of-day reporting
- Monitor equipment calibration, QA/QC logs, and submit maintenance requests
- Conduct patient follow-up calls and manage communications
- Support compliance with company policies, including corrective action processes
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
Experience
- 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience required
- 5+ years of healthcare or relevant experience (or military medical experience) may be considered in lieu of certifications
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Certifications One of the following is required:
- CMA (AAMA)
- RMA (AMT or AAH)
- CCMA (NHA)
- NCMA (NCCT)
- NRCMA (NAHP)
- ARMA
OR accepted at hire:
- EMT, CNA, LPN, or RN
Additional requirements:
- BLS certification (required at hire)
- CPOE certification within 2 weeks of start (if not already certified)
- Valid driver’s license and successful MVR check
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and organizational ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Customer service-focused with strong problem-solving skills
