Description

Overview:
Resolution Think, LLC, through its joint venture partner Cognito Systems, LLC, is seeking an Electroencephalographic (EEG) Technologist to join our team at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC), Fort Hood, TX. You will perform EEG, nerve conduction (NCS) and evoked potential (EP) studies for patients from neonates through geriatrics. You’ll work in the neurodiagnostic lab, outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, the emergency room and intensive care units, partnering with interpreting physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care that follows Government standards and established clinical protocols.

The ideal candidate has strong technical skills and attention to detail, and thrives in a dynamic hospital environment. You should also have excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills. This role is essential to supporting neurology providers and delivering compassionate, high-quality care to service members, retirees and their families.

This position offers a sign-on bonus and a retention bonus.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts. Potential shifts include:

  • 0700–1600
  • 0800–1700
  • 1000–1900

Shift assignment depends on clinic needs, and the schedule may change. A few hours of on-call coverage may be needed on some weekends, depending on hospital demand, including EEG studies for admitted patients.

Benefits: Resolution Think Full-Time Employees
We value our team and offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports both your professional and personal well-being:

Core Duties:

  • Perform routine diagnostic studies and services, drawing on extensive knowledge of EEG, NCS and EP.
  • Apply knowledge of medical terminology, neuroanatomy, neurological conditions and how they present on EEGs.
  • Apply basic concepts of electricity and electronics to identify artifacts caused by electrical interference, and understand the instrumentation’s capabilities and limitations.
  • Follow MTF safety policies and procedures.
  • Determine whether a patient needs any special preparation.
  • Modify the recording strategy and instrument settings based on your evaluation of the recorded data, so each study is complete and technically satisfactory.

  • Apply EEG, NCS and EP skills across patient populations, from neonates through geriatrics and from stable to critically ill. Settings include the outpatient clinic, inpatient ward, emergency room and ICU, with equipment adjusted for patient age.
  • Detect EEG, NCS and EP abnormalities of the central and peripheral nervous systems, including signs of seizure disorders.
  • Accurately place electrodes using the 10-20 system, plus supplemental electrode sites.
  • With physician or provider approval, independently adjust procedures for anatomical defects, variants and anomalies; make technical corrections; and add special study components when clinically indicated.
  • Review and analyze the patient’s medical record and history to design or adjust the ordered study, with physician or provider approval.
  • Recognize signs, symptoms and EEG correlations for both pediatric and adult neurological disorders.
  • Serve as a training proctor for staff undergoing EEG, NCS or EP training. Providers, residents, students and other staff may shadow your procedures.
  • Perform, schedule and administer specialized EEGs in the lab and on inpatient units, including neonatal, pediatric, ICU, critical care, emergency room and neonatal nursery areas. This includes recording brain wave patterns and identifying artifacts such as eye movement and tremors.
  • Perform long-term continuous epilepsy monitoring.
  • Conduct specialized neurological examinations and complex procedures on patients of all ages.
  • Perform routine sensory and motor nerve conduction studies under the oversight of the attending electrodiagnostic physician.
  • Perform evoked potential studies, including brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER), visual evoked response (VER) and somatosensory evoked response (SSEP).
  • May perform advanced evoked studies, including topographic displays and nonstandard evoked potential evaluations.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for EMG exams performed by physicians, assist as needed, and save and transfer the completed study data.
  • Review and schedule electrodiagnostic (EDX) appointments according to physician requests.
  • Perform operator maintenance on EDX equipment, and report malfunctions and maintenance needs.
  • Keep procedure and treatment areas stocked with supplies, and keep the work area neat and orderly.
