Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 per annum, negotiable, DOE
Hours: Full time, office based with occasional travel across the country
The Role
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a motivated and well organised Health and Safety Coordinator to join their team and support their engineering and construction operations.
Working closely with the Health and Safety Manager, you will play an important part in helping to maintain effective health and safety systems across the organisation. This is a varied role, combining administration, compliance, communication and practical health and safety support.
The position will be primarily based at our client's office in Haverhill, with occasional travel to sites and locations across the country.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:

Maintaining and updating health and safety documentation, records and policies

Supporting the preparation and review of risk assessments and method statements

Keeping track of employee training, qualifications and certification
-
Assisting with workplace inspections, audits and general compliance checks

Following up on any corrective actions and ensuring these are completed within agreed timescales

Providing day to day support to managers and employees on health and safety matters
-
Liaising with contractors and other external parties when required
-
Helping to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and internal procedures

Supporting the Health and Safety Manager with general administration and ongoing health and safety projects
What We're Looking For
Our client is looking to hear from candidates with previous experience within a health and safety role, ideally gained within an engineering, construction, manufacturing or similar environment.
You will also have:

A good understanding of UK health and safety legislation
-
Strong organisational and administrative skills
-
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage accurate records
-
Good communication skills and confidence working with people at all levels
-
A proactive approach and the ability to manage tasks independently
-
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The following would be beneficial, although not all are essential:
-
NEBOSH General Certificate, or currently working towards this qualification
-
IOSH Managing Safely or Working Safely
-
Experience within engineering, manufacturing or construction
-
Knowledge of CDM Regulations
