The Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and support of the organization's IT infrastructure, cloud services, identity systems, and endpoint management platforms. This role ensures reliable technology operations and provides technical expertise for troubleshooting, system improvements, escalated support, and project implementation.
Essential Functions
- Administer and maintain servers, cloud services, virtualization platforms, storage, backups, and core IT systems.
- Develop, and automate the packaging and deployment of complex applications—including heavy AEC-specific software like the Autodesk AEC suite.
- Manage Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, user access controls, group management, and related identity services.
- Support endpoint management, application patch management, operating system configuration, device compliance, and lifecycle processes.
- Manage application updates and patching cadences, for Autodesk products and other enterprise applications.
- Monitor system health, performance, availability, and security; proactively address issues to reduce business disruption.
- Perform system upgrades, patching, configuration changes, vulnerability remediation, and routine maintenance activities.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, providing root-cause analysis, clear communication, and timely resolution.
- Provide guidance to help desk technicians and contribute specialized knowledge in areas such as cybersecurity, cloud services, networking, and application support.
- Travel to other office locations as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Stay current on technology trends, security practices, and infrastructure best practices to support continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and perform other duties as directed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience deploying and supporting enterprise software across multiple offices and organizations, including application packaging, deployment automation, testing, troubleshooting, security, and compliance.
- Three or more years of experience in systems administration, including server, identity, endpoint, and infrastructure support.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and endpoint management solutions.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure principles, including networking, hardware, software, security, backup, and recovery concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications or equivalent technical experience in systems administration, cloud services, cybersecurity, networking, or endpoint management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Active Directory environments across multiple organizations, including tenant migrations, identity integration, cross-tenant collaboration, and Active Directory trusts.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Microsoft certifications or equivalent industry certifications are preferred.
- Experience with PowerShell automation, infrastructure monitoring, virtualization platforms, and security/compliance technologies.
- Experience in an architectural, engineering, construction, or professional services firm is preferred.
- Experience with Intune and NinjaOne for endpoint management, application deployment, ticketing, and Setyl for asset management and remote support.
