We have an excellent opportunity for a Production Supervisor in our Cement Division, located in Medley, FL. This position will be responsible for the coordination of the daily cement operation ensuring all environmental, safety, quality, budget, and production targets are being met. This salaried exempt position will report directly to the Production Superintendent.
Responsibilities
Safety and Environment
- Ensure the department complies with all applicable environmental standards.
- Ensure that a safe workplace is maintained, based on company policies and MSHA guidelines.
- Communicates, improves, and adheres to safety policies in all work environments and areas to ensure continuity of our safety culture.
- Ensure full compliance with air permits and all other relevant environmental and other legal permits
- Encourage, report, and investigate near misses and accidents that occur.
- Guarantee that the department safety and environmental annual refresher training, standard procedures, and awareness programs are implemented.
- Execution of safety audit program at the functional team level.
Productivity & Efficiency
- Primary responsibilities over the Finish Mill operation, inventory, forecasting production needs, and troubleshooting equipment issues to ensure minimal stoppages.
- Finish Mill production planning and forecasting.
- Coordinate with maintenance team equipment improvements, routine maintenance, and outage maintenance.
- Managing the inventory of Finish Mill consumables.
- Participate in new project commissioning.
- Manage shift personnel to include employee scheduling, record keeping and training.
- Ensure that employees are working efficiently and consistently with company policies and guidelines.
- Ensure that all products shipped meet or exceed customers’ expectations regarding quality and service.
- Maintain area of responsibility in excellent condition, mechanically and esthetically.
- Prepare and ensure accuracy of paperwork resulting from daily business.
- Maintain good working relationships with co-workers and outside agencies’ personnel.
Leadership & People Development:
- Positively influence the job performance of plant operation team members (all levels) through motivation, goal setting and providing feedback. Provide leadership by directing, coaching, supporting, and delegating, as needed.
- Create and maintain trusting relationships with plant operation team focusing on training and development to foster growth of new skills while leveraging their current strengths.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive production and/or supervisory role experience in cement manufacturing or similar business.
- Solid understanding of safety, environmental and quality compliance regulations (quality control and quality assurance procedures).
Skills/Abilities
- Self-starter with continuous improvement approach.
- Strong leadership skills with technical knowledge to plan, lead and execute strategies. Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a member of a team and as a team leader.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and follow-up on critical issues.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business information, professional journals, and technical procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with professional decorum.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize responsibilities in fast-paced culture.
- Develop a high-performance culture fully aligned with the strategic objectives of the organization
- Promote a positive “can do” attitude in the work environment, emphasizing a “make change happen” approach while reinforcing group policies and providing feedback.
- Maintain an open dialogue with operations personnel to identify opportunities to improve performance.
- Ensure the competence and development of department employees (hourly and salaried) by initiating training, coaching, counseling, mentoring and accountability to respond to items identified in the performance reviews
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and be able to lift 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
- Must possess a valid FL driver’s license and maintain a clean motor vehicle history.
