Head of Finance
Location: Pretoria (Hybrid)
Contract Duration: Approximately 6 Months
Lead Financial Strategy. Drive Governance. Deliver Business Impact.
An established organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to lead its Finance function on an approximately 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic finance leader with extensive financial management, group accounting, and governance experience to oversee the organisation's financial operations, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and provide strategic financial direction that supports organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Finance Department, ensuring sound financial management practices and effective governance.
- Develop and manage the annual budgeting process in alignment with organisational strategy.
- Oversee financial planning, forecasting, cash flow management, and budget control.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports and financial statements.
- Manage group accounting activities, including consolidations and equity accounting.
- Oversee valuation of investments and impairment assessments.
- Manage the external audit process and ensure timely completion of statutory reporting.
- Ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), National Treasury regulations, and internal governance frameworks.
- Monitor financial risks and maintain departmental risk registers.
- Present financial information and recommendations to Executive Management and Board-level stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder engagements relating to financial reporting and governance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)).
- 8–10 years' post-articles experience in broad-based financial management and auditing.
- 5–8 years' experience in group accounting, including consolidations and equity accounting.
- 5–8 years' experience in investment valuation and impairment assessments.
- 5 years' experience managing external audit processes.
- 5–8 years' experience applying the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- 5 years' experience in a senior management or leadership role.
