Manager, Email & SMS Marketing

Overview

Lifeway is seeking a Manager, Email & SMS Marketing to lead email and SMS marketing initiatives, driving strategy, execution, and performance optimization while managing a team of strategists and specialists. This role ensures engaging, data-driven communication across channels, fostering brand loyalty and delivering measurable results aligned with Lifeway's mission to serve the church and make disciples.

This is a remote position in the U.S. with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings. #LI-Remote 

 

 

Responsibilities

• Lives out Lifeway’s mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
• Manages and mentors a team of Email and SMS Marketing Strategists and Specialists. 
• Develops and implements a comprehensive email and SMS marketing strategy aligned with Lifeway’s goals. 
• Oversees campaign creation and deployment using platforms like Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Attentive. 
• Designs advanced audience segmentation strategies for personalized messaging. 
• Tracks and analyzes KPIs, driving continuous improvement in campaign performance. 
• Ensures compliance with regulations like CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and TCPA. 
• Collaborates with content, design, IT, and marketing teams to align strategies. 
• Optimizes workflows, templates, and automation for timely and high-quality campaigns. 
• Explores innovative trends, tools, and techniques to enhance engagement and retention. 
• Required travel to Nashville 2-4 times per year

Qualifications

EducationBachelor’s degree Marketing, Communications, or a related field, required

Master’s degree, preferred

Advanced graduate degree (PhD, etc.), not required

 

Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, required

• 7+ years of experience managing email and SMS marketing campaigns using enterprise platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud and SMS/Marketing Automation 
• 3+ years of experience leading a marketing team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management 
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and dynamic content creation for building on-brand, visually engaging campaigns 
• Strong proficiency in data analysis and reporting, translating campaign metrics into strategic insights 
• Demonstrated expertise in audience segmentation, list management, and email/SMS marketing regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, TCPA) 
• Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills across complex, multi-layered initiatives 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior-level executives 

Actively involved in an evangelical Christian church

 

Skills, Knowledge, & Experiences, preferred 

• Knowledge of JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and marketing automation platforms. 
• Experience with advanced analytics and direct mail integration. 
• Familiarity with standard internet and email technologies and protocols.
