Job SummaryMetropolitan is seeking a Fleet Coordinator to work closely with the Fleet Unit Manager, staff, and stakeholders across the organization. Metropolitan manages over 1,400 vehicles and 502 facility assets—including sedans, trucks, cranes, forklifts, trailers, construction equipment, pumps, and generators—across twelve Southern California locations.

 

This role applies fleet management knowledge, regulatory knowledge, and equipment experience to maintain accurate records, analyze data, and prepare reports. The Fleet Coordinator supports staff and stakeholders through training, guidance, and assessment of assets to recommend replacements or surplus options, while introducing innovative solutions to improve operations.

 

What You Will Do

• Coordinate the annual Operating Equipment review and support vehicle specifications and in-service processes
• Maintain accurate computerized maintenance records and track fleet financials, warranties, and recalls
• Administer driver evaluations and deliver safety and maintenance training to staff and stakeholders
• Audit maintenance programs and consult on equipment repairs and spare parts
• Conduct site visits to ensure regulatory and safety compliance across all locations
• Collaborate with managers and technicians to monitor preventive maintenance schedules and operational efficiency

Schedule: 4/10 (Tuesday – Friday) Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm.

 

Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

 

 

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience.

 

Relevant/Related Experience is defined as: a combination of experience with fleet maintenance, equipment utilization, dispatching, acquisition, and salvaging of light and heavy equipment. Knowledge of CMMS tools such as (Maximo, FleetIO, AssetWorks, Samsara) for scheduling, tracking, and optimizing fleet performance.

 

 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:

License(s):

• Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
• May require a Class A Drivers License for testing of equipment
