JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our team in Burnsville, MN as a Electrical Design Engineer – Power Distribution . You will be part of a group of engineers dedicated to high-quality work, value-add solutions, skill development, and career growth. This role leads electrical design efforts for a major product line redesign, developing schematics, wiring diagrams, one‑lines, and layout drawings for power distribution equipment. The Electrical Design Engineer interprets customer and site requirements, defines electrical specifications, supports certification and compliance activities, and produces detailed documentation for manufacturing and testing. This position works closely with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and engineering partners while contributing to design standardization, process improvements, and on‑site engineering discussions in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment. 

As a Electrical Design Engineer – Power Distribution , you will:

• Own all electrical design activities for a product line redesign effort
• Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one‑lines, and layout drawings using industry‑standard CAD tools
• Interpret customer specifications, site requirements, and technical constraints to create accurate, compliant electrical system solutions
• Define electrical specifications, component selections, and system architectures for power distribution equipment including switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, and docking stations
• Produce detailed technical documentation supporting manufacturing, testing, certification, and customer requests
• Collaborate with SMEs, cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the project
• Ensure electrical designs meet safety, performance, manufacturability, and relevant code/standard requirements
• Support certification and compliance activities including UL 1008, UL 508, UL 1640, NEC, and other applicable standards
• Maintain electrical documentation, BOMs, and revisions within ERP, PLM, and Vault systems
• Contribute to process improvements, modularization, and design standardization initiatives
• Participate in design reviews, prototyping sessions, and on‑site engineering discussions
• Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
• Contribute to projects that impact communities in the greater Minneapolis metro

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in electrical design for custom‑engineered power distribution or electromechanical systems
• Proficiency with electrical CAD tools for schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
• Experience interpreting customer specifications and site requirements to develop electrical system solutions
• Knowledge of electrical design best practices including safety, performance, manufacturability, and compliance
• Experience creating technical documentation to support manufacturing, testing, and certification
• Experience with switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, or related power distribution equipment
• Familiarity with UL standards such as UL 1008, UL 508, and UL 1640
• Experience with ERP, PLM, and engineering vault systems for managing design documentation and BOMs
• Background in process improvement, modularization, or design automation
• Project management experience including coordinating cross‑functional teams and tracking deliverables strongly preferred

ESTIMATED PAY RANGE

Engineer I: $40.45–$46.52/hour

Engineer II: $44.14–$50.76/hour

Engineer III: $47.83–$55.00/hour

Senior Engineer: $51.51–$59.24/hour

Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations. Paid overtime may be available.
