About the Role

The Principal Talent & Development Specialist is responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously evolving talent and organizational development processes and programs. This role ensures alignment with Sierra Space culture and talent priorities, leading organizational-wide initiatives such as performance and goal setting, succession planning, development plans, talent reviews, and critical role/high potential programs. The specialist will engage with executive-level stakeholders, utilize a data-driven approach, and manage complex projects to enhance the organization's talent and development strategies.

This role involves designing, delivering, and continuously evolving talent and organizational development processes and programs to align with Sierra Space's culture and talent priorities. It includes leading organization-wide initiatives such as performance and goal setting, succession planning, development plans, talent reviews, critical role/high potential programs, coaching and feedback, and talent assessments. The role requires identifying and influencing program planning and strategies to meet stakeholder and business needs while using a consultative approach to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, often in collaboration with executive-level stakeholders. Additionally, this role involves partnering with stakeholders to determine execution strategies, including processes, tools, and vendor partnerships, while leveraging a data-driven approach to anticipate and address talent trends. A strong ability to plan and manage projects is essential, particularly for designing and implementing programs in complex environments with a focus on participant experience. Responsibilities also include developing and executing communication and change management strategies for talent initiatives, collaborating with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to support workforce planning and strengthen leadership and talent pipelines, and continuously monitoring and improving program effectiveness. Staying current with industry trends, mentoring junior team members, managing budgets, facilitating leadership development workshops, and maintaining a repository of resources and best practices are also key aspects of this role. Furthermore, the role involves integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles into talent programs, as well as collaborating with external consultants and vendors to enhance program offerings and effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +10 yrs experience).
• Typically 12+ years of related experience.
• Extensive experience designing, delivering, and continuously evolving talent and organizational development processes and programs, ensuring alignment with Sierra Space culture and talent priorities.
• Experience designing and leading organizational-wide talent and organizational development initiatives such as performance and goal setting, succession planning, development plans, talent reviews, critical role/high potential programs, coaching/feedback, talent assessments, etc.
• Broad knowledge and experience of current as well as emerging talent and organizational development systems and tools.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and talent management software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications: SPHR, SHRM-SCP, TMP, TMCP, or OD.
• Advanced technical skills in data analysis and reporting tools.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other HR technology platforms.
• Proven ability to design and implement large-scale talent development programs.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
• Experience with change management and organizational development strategies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Experience with competency modeling and career pathing.
• Knowledge of employee engagement strategies and tools.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and their application in talent development.
• Experience in global talent development and managing cross-cultural teams.
• Strong facilitation skills with experience in virtual and in-person training sessions.
• Experience in developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
• Ability to influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
• Experience in executive coaching and leadership development.
• Knowledge of workforce analytics and predictive modeling techniques.

 

 

Compensation:

Pay Range:

$146,180.00 - $201,019.25

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
