Job Description:
Provides effective legal counsel or support in legal activities for OpCo, Segment, or Group. Counsel activities include training, negotiations, litigation, reviews, as well as the creation and maintenance of legal housekeeping processes, and the management of outside counsel. Requires Juris Doctor degree (or local country equivalent), admittance to local legal body (e.g., state bar or country bar) or a paralegal certificate.

Responsibilities
- Draft, review, revise and negotiate commercial and other agreements, government contracts, including Distributor Agreements, Evaluation Agreement, Sponsorship Agreement, customer disputes, standard agreements (e.g., confidential disclosure, material transfer, evaluation, and professional services and sale agreements), security agreements including revisions to customer terms and conditions; resolves legal issues using negotiation skills and legal experience involving more complex matters.
- Help all functions / operations in drafting and negotiating contracts / purchase agreements;
- Secure compliance of all aspects of business with relevant laws and regulations;
- Make employees aware of compliance requirements at all times
- Direct / help internal investigations and develop risk management strategies; Performs substantive legal work that requires advance knowledge of legal concepts including analysis, drafting, negotiating and consulting
- Manage all legal cases in coordination with internal stakeholders and law firms / lawyers in a timely manner.
- Providing effective and practical legal advice on a wide range of employment law issues including labor contract, HR policies and process, performance management, disciplinary actions, non-compete, employee transfer, relocation and terminations, restructuring and other day-to-day operations.
- Developing annual training plan, conducting in-person compliance training and communication, and leading training material development.
- Maintain and enhance channel partner toolkits (CPTK) compliance program to make sure every dealer and channel partner comply with all applicable laws (including FCPA) and group policies.
- Conduct periodically site visits to marketing events.
- Manage Healthcare professional and marketing events.
- Serve as an active member of the India management team and continually provide advice on legal & compliance topics.
Desired work experience, education & skills
- A law degree preferably plus a minimum of 5 or more years of in a law firm and/or in-house in multi-national company with regional experience.
- Qualified to practice law in India.
- Experience providing counsel to medical device or pharmaceutical business strongly preferred.
- Experienced with negotiating contracts with external counterparty. Experienced with Distributorship contracts and distributors disputes/concerns management from legal perspective.
- Experienced with whistle-blowing case investigations.
- Experienced with anti-corruption, anti-bribery, anti-kickback, anti-competition, and medical device industry.
- Works closely with the India management team and global business units, as necessary, while maintaining independent judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to apply analytical skills to interpret data and use independent judgment and discretion in developing solutions to address a variety of issues regarding contracts and related problems of moderate scope and complexity
- Strong presentation and written and verbal communication skills; strong project management skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

- Candidates should possess a strong computer software background (MS Office etc) and be comfortable gaining proficiency quickly as the department utilizes various third-party software applications..
- Experience in working on CLM and e-discovery platforms.
