JOB SUMMARY:

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating the company’s incoming and outgoing shipments. Duties include packaging orders, scheduling shipments, and preparing accurate shipping documentation. The position requires effective communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues to ensure shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare, package, label, and stage products for shipment.
• Prepare shipping documents, packing lists, bills of lading, and other required paperwork.
• Schedule pickups and deliveries with freight carriers and other transportation providers.
• Verify orders, quantities, shipping addresses, and product information before shipment.
• Track shipments and communicate delivery status or delays to customers, vendors, and internal staff.
• Maintain an organized shipping area to ensure materials are properly stored and staged.
• Operate shipping equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and overhead cranes.

Requirements

  REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience using common material handling equipment such as hand trucks, powered pallet jacks, and powered      industrial trucks preferred.
• 2-5 years of related experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen, physical, and background check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a manufacturing environment in the Main Plant located in Westbrook, Maine. This role routinely uses standard material handling equipment such as hand trucks, powered pallet jacks, and powered industrial trucks. This role occasionally uses standard production equipment such as power tools and other mechanic hand tools. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

The employee frequently moves objects and must use abdominal and lower back muscles. The employee frequently detects and operates hand tools. The employee must frequently position and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
