JOB SUMMARY:The Centre for Lung Health (CLH) at the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI) is a research-driven, multidisciplinary centre that brings together internationally recognized leaders in respiratory research, clinical care and education including the Legacy for Airway Health (LAH) and other affiliated programs. The CLH integrates expertise across disciplines to accelerate discovery, improve clinical practice and enhance respiratory health through research, education, innovation and community partnerships. Guided by the principle that Research is Care and Care is Research, CLH's vision is to be the world leader in research and its application to prevention of and care for lung disease at the individual, community and population levels. By embedding research within clinical care through an integrated approach, the CLH creates an environment in which new knowledge continuously improves practice while clinical and public health experience informs future discovery, ultimately improving outcomes.The CLH builds on internationally recognized programs at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and affiliated hospitals, the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU), Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation and the VGH and UBC Divisions of Respiratory Medicine who are key partners that help advance the CLH’s mission and strengthen its research, clinical and community initiatives.Reporting to the Director of the CLH, the Coordinator, Communication and Community Engagement Centre for Lung Health is responsible for strengthening the collaboration and engagement across the CLH’s programs and partner organizations by fostering an an environment of trust, transparency and collaboration within CLH and across British Columbia, Canada, and internationally with the central focus of the role is to ensure that lived experience informs research priorities, study design, implementation and dissemination. Working closely with staff of CLH and its component units, the Coordinator develops networks, communities of practice, engagement initiatives and communication strategies that enhance the CLH’s visibility, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation and maximizes the impact of CLH's work on patient care and health system improvement. This work is framed within VCH’s commitments to Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health.QUALIFICATIONS:Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a health science-related discipline, supplemented with three (3) to five (5) years’ recent related experience working in a health care system, professional association, health authority and/or government on research and/or projects related to patient-oriented research, community engagement, evidence-informed practice and/or policy change, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.ROLE SPECIFIC EXPERTISE:Experience with implementation science, knowledge translation theory and practice including critical appraisal, knowledge and skills related to the process of Evidence-Informed Decision Making.Ability to develop, maintain and foster relationships with researchers, decision makers and patient groups.Demonstrated experience in organizing stakeholder consultations.Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including social media management.Ability to prepare reports and presentations for diverse audiences.Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting.Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills.Demonstrated work ethic, high degree of initiative and self-motivation.Ability to thrive in dynamic, high-pressure environments.Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.SHARED VALUES:You care for everyone:• You are compassionate, empathetic, and sensitive to the needs of others.• You are respectful, treating people as equals, and valuing others’ perspectives and differences.• You are appreciative of others’ efforts and give them praise when it’s due.You are always learning:• You are open-minded, always receptive to different perspectives and ways of doing things.• You are curious and ask questions to find a deeper understanding.• You share your expertise and mentor others by sharing your knowledge and experience.You strive for better results:• You are accountable, and take responsibility for what you say, what you do, and who you engage in achieving better results.• You are a solution finder, empowered to solve the challenges we face in healthcare.• You take ownership for growth and development and personal development, always seek feedback and opportunities to improve how we do things.
