Description
At OCMI, Inc., our core values—One Team, Curiosity, Meaningful Service, and Integrity—drive everything we do. Founded in 1982 and still privately owned, we've become one of the nation's fastest-growing construction management consultancies. Serving markets across Federal, Education, Hospitality, Healthcare, Technology, and Commercial, we offer comprehensive services including Cost Management, Project Management, Scheduling, and Project Controls. Most importantly, our teams are passionate about supporting each other and making a difference in the communities we serve.
We are seeking a dynamic, bilingual (English/Spanish) Marketing & Communications Coordinator to spearhead the outreach for Evolve Student Housing, our latest housing development project at San Diego State University. This is an on-site, in-person position in San Diego. This position requires occasional travel to Calexico in Imperial Valley to support outreach initiatives, events and stakeholder engagement.
As the primary voice for Evolve Student Housing, you will be responsible for everything from construction impact communications to on-site event execution. You will work independently to produce the marketing and communication roadmap while collaborating with the Office of Housing Administration and various teams to ensure students and the SDSU community are well informed about the project and its impact to nearby residents and campus stakeholders. In addition, you will lead strategic marketing initiatives designed to generate awareness, nurture prospective residents through the housing journey and convert leads into completed housing applications and room reservations for the residential communities.
If you are seeking a company that offers growth, flexibility, and an exceptional culture, we encourage you to apply now. A recruiter will respond to your resume within five business days.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Marketing: Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that build awareness of student housing, generate interest among prospective residents and support occupancy goals through targeted outreach and engagement campaigns.
- Communication Management: Develop and execute communications to inform students of construction-related notices and impacts, including planned and emergency notifications as well as responding to media and journalism inquiries.
- Event Planning: Conceptualize and host community events and on-site tours to educate the community about the project and draw excitement. Manage all logistics, including communications, catering, event staffing coordination, construction team presenters, RSVP tracking and procurement of branded promotional items and tour materials (including PPE). Facilitate team after-action debriefs to improve future events.
- Content Creation: Design high-quality digital and print assets, including but not limited to social media, digital display graphics, signage and various printed materials.
- Video/Photo: Coordinate photography, videography, isometrics and virtual tours for archival and promotional use.
- Digital Presence: Manage and update websites, ensuring the user experience is seamless and information is current.
- Presentation Design: Create polished slide decks for stakeholder updates and community presentations.
- Brand Voice: Maintain a consistent and professional tone across all communication channels, ensuring alignment with SDSU’s overarching brand guidelines.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with multiple offices (Strategic Communications and Public Affairs, Office of Housing Administration, Residential Education Office, Planning, Design and Construction), the architect, construction teams and consultants to receive updates and provide review and approval of all materials prior to publication.
Qualifications:
- Full professional fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field.
- Ability to travel occasionally to Calexico in Imperial Valley to support meetings, events, project outreach and other business-related activities.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a focus on translating technical construction terminology into student-friendly language.

- Proficiency in Email Marketing platforms (Mailchimp)
- Proficiency in CMS platforms for website updates (Omni)
- Proficiency in Social Media management software (Sprout Social)
