Description
Help modernise critical billing and pricing systems within a leading financial services environment
We're looking for a Senior Engineer – Data Migration & Billing Platforms to join a high-impact transformation initiative, helping migrate a legacy billing platform to a modern internally developed SaaS solution.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex data migration challenges, building reliable processing pipelines, and working with large-scale financial and billing datasets. While you'll be working in an AWS-hosted environment, this is not a traditional cloud data engineering or analytics role. Instead, you'll focus on data transformation, migration, validation and reconciliation to ensure the successful transition between critical billing platforms.
What you'll be doing
Design and develop data migration and transformation pipelines to support the transition from a legacy eBilling platform to a modern SaaS billing solution.
Build multi-stage data processing workflows that ingest, validate, enrich and transform billing and transaction data.
Develop file-processing solutions, including CSV ingestion and generation of fixed-format output files.
Create configuration-driven mapping frameworks to translate legacy billing structures into target platform formats.
Implement complex pricing, fee and billing calculations, including GST treatment and payment fee structures.
Develop robust data validation, reconciliation and exception-handling processes.
Manage reference data, eligibility matrices, lookup tables and rate catalogues.
Build automated testing frameworks and regression suites to ensure data quality and migration accuracy.
Work closely with business, technology and domain stakeholders to deliver reliable migration outcomes.
What you'll bring
Strong experience delivering complex data migration, transformation or integration projects.
Advanced Python development skills (highly preferred).
Experience with Snowflake or Databricks.
Experience designing and building ETL and data processing pipelines.
Strong understanding of data mapping, transformation and reconciliation techniques.
Experience working with structured data formats including CSV, fixed-width or batch processing files.
Strong SQL skills and experience managing reference data and lookup tables.
Experience implementing data validation, error handling and data quality controls.
Strong testing discipline, including automation, reconciliation and regression testing.
Familiarity working within AWS environments
Highly Desirable
Banking, payments or financial services experience.
Understanding of payment and billing products such as:
BPAY
RTGS
Direct Entry
NPP
International Money Transfers (IMT)
Experience working with billing, pricing or charging platforms.
Understanding of GST treatment within financial or billing systems.
