Position Summary
Harrow is seeking a National Senior Director, Field Reimbursement to build and lead a high-performing team of Field Reimbursement Managers (FRMs) supporting our buy-and-bill drug portfolio across the Retina and Surgical franchises. This leader will be the architect of Harrow's field reimbursement strategy and culture — ensuring physician practices and their staff have the confidence, tools, and technical expertise needed to successfully navigate coverage, coding, billing, and claims processes for Harrow brands.
The ideal candidate combines deep payer and reimbursement expertise with strong people leadership, a bias for action, and the analytical rigor to translate claims data into actionable guidance for customers and internal stakeholders. This is a highly visible, cross-functional leadership role responsible for expanding appropriate patient access at scale.
This role sits within the leadership team for the Market Access Organization at Harrow.
Core Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Culture
- Build, lead, coach, and scale a national team of FRMs, instilling a hard-charging, customer-first, results-oriented culture
- Define team structure, territory alignment, KPIs, and performance standards; conduct regular field visits, ride-alongs, and performance reviews
- Recruit and develop top reimbursement talent; create career pathing and training curricula for the FRM function
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Trade, Marketing, Market Access/Payer Strategy, Legal, and Compliance
Strategy & Customer Confidence
- Set the national strategy for field reimbursement support across the Retina and Surgical buy-and-bill portfolio
- Ensure customers (physicians, practice administrators, billing/coding staff) have reimbursement confidence through proactive education on coverage policy, coding, billing, and claims submission for Harrow brands
- Establish and lead a cadence of business reviews with key accounts to assess reimbursement performance, identify barriers to access, and develop corrective action plans
- Serve as the senior-most escalation point for complex payer, coding, or claims issues in the field
Payer, Billing & Coding Expertise
- Maintain deep, current expertise in payer dynamics (commercial, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid) as they relate to buy-and-bill specialty products
- Provide authoritative guidance on HCPCS/CPT/J-code assignment, ICD-10 coding, modifiers, prior authorization, and appeals specific to Retina and Surgical procedures
- Ensure all guidance provided by the team is accurate, compliant, and appropriately scoped (education, not billing/coding advice on the customer's behalf)
Claims & Business Analytics
- Direct claims analysis to identify reimbursement trends, payer denial patterns, coverage gaps, and access barriers at the account, regional, and national level
- Translate data insights into targeted field action plans and customer-facing recommendations
- Partner with Market Access and Trade teams to inform payer strategy, contracting priorities, and policy engagement using field and claims intelligence
- Own reporting and dashboards that track access metrics, team performance, and franchise-level reimbursement KPIs for executive leadership
Compliance
- Ensure all team activities strictly adhere to Harrow's compliance policies, OIG guidance, and applicable state/federal regulations governing field reimbursement support and interactions with healthcare providers
- Partner with Legal/Compliance on training, materials review, and monitoring of field activities
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MHA, or related) a plus
- 10+ years of progressive experience in market access, reimbursement, or trade, including significant experience in buy-and-bill / specialty pharmaceutical or biotech environments
- 5+ years of people leadership experience, including building and managing field-based reimbursement or access teams
- Deep, demonstrable expertise in payer policy, medical and pharmacy benefit dynamics, coding (CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10), billing workflows, and claims/appeals processes
- Experience in Retina, Ophthalmology, or Surgical specialty markets strongly preferred
- Proven ability to conduct and lead claims data analysis to drive business decisions and customer-facing recommendations
- Track record of setting strategy and driving measurable improvements in patient access and reimbursement outcomes
- Strong executive presence; experience presenting to and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders
- Working knowledge of compliance requirements governing reimbursement support programs (PhRMA Code, OIG guidance, anti-kickback considerations).
