Senior Veterinarian – New Hospital Opportunity – Chevy Chase, MD

 

A growing veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Senior Veterinarian to help launch and lead a new practice. This opportunity is designed for a veterinarian who wants to take an active role in shaping a hospital's medical standards, team culture, and long-term growth. The veterinarian will have the autonomy to help build the practice around their clinical interests while receiving strong operational, administrative, and professional support. This role offers an opportunity to combine hands-on veterinary medicine with leadership, mentorship, and practice development.

 

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, high-quality veterinary care to patients.
• Perform examinations, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, and other appropriate medical procedures.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and recommendations clearly with clients.
• Establish and maintain high standards of medical care within the practice.
• Help shape clinical protocols, workflows, and hospital standards.
• Build and lead a strong veterinary team.
• Mentor and support veterinarians and veterinary support staff.
• Promote a collaborative, patient-focused, and positive hospital environment.
• Support client education, community engagement, and practice growth initiatives.
• Maintain accurate medical records and comply with applicable veterinary regulations.
• Help develop the long-term direction and success of the practice.

 

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary program.
• Active veterinary license or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.
• Previous experience practicing veterinary medicine.
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.
• Ability to mentor and develop veterinary team members.
• Strong commitment to high-quality patient care and client experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a growing practice environment.
• Interest in taking a leadership role in building and developing a veterinary practice.
