Description of Work
This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution in Vanceboro, NC, Craven County. The prison is a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center which houses 850 offenders. Employees in this class provide support in the Medical Records Office and to the medical supervisors.Key Duties Include:
- Typing miscellaneous forms, preparing statistical reports on patients treated, data entry, filing, and entering clinical schedules.
- Submits and tracks the release of information requests; reviews medical records for completeness, collaborates with physicians, nurses and other health professionals on medical records.
- Backlog and scheduling lab, MD sick call and physical exam clinics, lab and X-Ray requisitions, filing and assisting all medical, mental health and dental staff locating medical charts as needed.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade Range: $39,244 - $68,679
The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
- Documented knowledge of clerical/secretarial skills
- Documented knowledge in the use of office machines
- Documented knowledge in computer skills using MS Word
- Demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills and abilities gained through at least one year of medical records assistant experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in Medical Records, Medical Terminology, Medical Filing Systems, Typing, Data Entry and Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT Codes
