POSITION OVERVIEW
BDC is the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs. As a Commercial Account Manager, you will drive business development activities, build relationships within the local business community, and manage an existing portfolio of clients. Your work contributes directly to the success of Canadian businesses through financing solutions and advisory services tailored to entrepreneurs’ needs. CHALLENGES TO BE MET
In this role, you will:
- Develop business opportunities by actively networking within local business associations, chambers of commerce, and the broader Brampton/Orangeville business community.
- Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, prospective clients, referral sources, and community partners.
- Meet with business owners to understand their operations, identify business challenges, and recommend appropriate financing or advisory solutions.
- Execute a business development plan aligned with Business Centre objectives to support client acquisition, portfolio growth, and client retention.
- Manage a portfolio of existing commercial clients while building a pipeline of new business opportunities.
- Analyze financing requests and business information to assess opportunities and risks.
- Negotiate, structure, and present financing proposals while exercising sound credit judgment.
- Collaborate with internal partners to deliver solutions that support the growth of small and medium-sized businesses across Canada.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in business development.
- Established professional network within the business community, ideally in the Brampton and/or Orangeville market.
- Experience developing new business opportunities and acquiring clients.
- Experience managing client relationships and/or a portfolio of business clients.
- Ability to identify business needs and challenges and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Experience analyzing and negotiating financing proposals and exercising credit judgment.
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Results-oriented with demonstrated achievement of business development or sales objectives.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to build effective and lasting relationships with internal colleagues, external partners, and business contacts.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle, if required for the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with entrepreneurs, small businesses, or medium-sized businesses.
- Experience in commercial banking, business banking, commercial lending, or financial services.
- Knowledge of business financing solutions and advisory services.
- Active participation in local business associations, networking groups, or chambers of commerce.
- Existing referral network within the Brampton/Orangeville business community.
