About Us

Chevron is a leading multinational energy company with operations in over 180 countries. Founded in 1879, Chevron has a rich history of innovation and growth, making significant contributions to the global energy landscape.

Chevron has been present in Australia for over 70 years. Chevron Australia Downstream, an Australian subsidiary of the Chevron Corporation, delivers quality fuel and lubricant products and services, including via its national network of Caltex service stations. Caltex customers receive a warm and friendly service and take advantage of the specially formulated fuel system-cleaning ingredient Techron®, available in all grades of fuel at the Caltex service stations.

Chevron Australia Downstream also owns and operates three product import terminals. We deliver products and services to a range of industries including mining, resources, agriculture, transport, marine and aviation. We offer services such as bulk fuel supply, oils and lubricants, fuel equipment solutions, customised fleet fuel card solutions and expert advice on fuel management and health and safety.

At Chevron, we believe humanity can solve any challenge – including meeting the world’s energy needs of today, while advancing a cleaner energy tomorrow.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Coordinator who will play a pivotal role in Enterprise Optimization by originating and executing commercial deals, managing transfer pricing structures, and ensuring accurate and timely implementation of commercial decisions across the value chain.  The role combines deal‑making, commercial analysis, cross‑functional coordination, and governance oversight to prioritise enterprise value outcomes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: (add info here)

  • Originate, structure, and execute commercial deals end-to-end, leading negotiations to deliver optimal value and balanced risk.

  • Identify and quantify value-chain optimisation opportunities across logistics, terminal/infrastructure utilisation, and transport routes.

  • Lead development of commercial strategies and project business cases, including partner screening, partnering models, and go-to-market approaches.

  • Partner closely with Singapore-based regional teams (Fuels Optimisation, Trading, Infrastructure, and Origination) to align priorities and unlock integrated value.

  • Drive delivery of Chevron Australia Downstream’s short- and mid-term commercial priorities, translating strategy into executable initiatives.

  • Own the opportunity pipeline—test assumptions, validate customer value propositions, and rapidly pivot or exit where strategic or commercial fit is not demonstrated.

  • Support and enable key business units through the full commercial lifecycle: strategy setting, opportunity identification, prioritisation, evaluation, approvals, and execution.

  • Deliver commercial development outputs including economic/market analysis, deal structuring (business models and governance), and drafting/negotiation of contracts and commercial terms.

About You

We know our greatest resource is the ingenuity, creativity and innovation of our people. Applications from motivated, talented individuals with a keen interest in the energy industry are encouraged.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Strong commercial and analytical capability—sound grounding in economics, value drivers, and market/competitor analysis to identify partners, customers, and sources of competitive advantage.

  • Demonstrated market insight—assess customer needs, competitor positioning, policy implications, and emerging trends to inform commercial decisions.

  • Preferred: technical understanding of Australian fuels and biofuels, including supply/demand flows, pricing and market dynamics, and the infrastructure/logistics network.

  • Proven stakeholder and issue management—able to align diverse priorities, surface key drivers, communicate clearly, and influence decisions at pace.

  • Collaborative team player with experience working effectively across diverse, distributed, and cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable operating under pressure and time constraints—able to prioritise, manage complexity and ambiguity, and deliver high-quality outputs to tight deadlines.

Everything we do at Chevron is guided by our values and our commitment to The Chevron Way (https://www.chevron.com/about/the-chevron-way). At the heart of The Chevron Way is our vision to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnership, and performance.

Participate in world-leading energy projects, advance your professional development and expand your career within an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing workplace.
