Job Details
The Data Governance Manager is responsible for assessing, shaping, and advancing data governance across Cencora’s International Business Group (IBG). Covering multiple countries including the UK, Norway, France, Spain, Germany, Türkiye, Czech Republic, Romania, and the USA, this role will evaluate current data governance maturity across a diverse set of business units spanning pharmaceutical wholesale, third-party logistics, and specialty courier.
The role will map existing capabilities, identify gaps and risks, and develop a practical roadmap to strengthen data governance across IBG. Working closely with in-country resources and cross-functional stakeholders, the role will help establish consistent governance practices that improve data quality, ownership, transparency, compliance, and responsible data use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess current data governance maturity across IBG countries and business units.
- Develop and maintain a roadmap to improve data governance capabilities across the organization.
- Coordinate governance councils, working groups, policies, standards, and decision tracking.
- Define and support data ownership, stewardship, critical data elements, and business glossary standards.
- Oversee data quality rules, monitoring, issue remediation, and closure tracking.
- Support metadata, lineage, and data catalog practices in partnership with platform and technology teams.
- Help manage governance controls related to access, privacy, retention, and ethical use of data.
- Partner with in-country teams to drive change management, communication, training, and adoption of governance practices.
- Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional and local resources supporting the data governance agenda.

Qualifications and Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, data management, statistics, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
- 5+ years of experience in data governance or data management (e.g., data quality, metadata, lineage, mdm, data policy), or a related field required.
- 2+ years of experience in a matrix management capacity required.
- Fluent English language skills.
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks, stewardship, metadata, lineage, and data quality practices.
- Experience working across multiple countries, business units, and stakeholder groups in a complex organization.
- Ability to assess current maturity and translate findings into practical improvement plans.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and change management skills.
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), or equivalent certification preferred. Certification in EDM Council Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) or Cloud Data Management Capabilities (CDMC) preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, logistics, or other regulated industries preferred.
