Business Systems Analyst (4 Month Contract)

Decision Inc. is currently looking for a Business Systems Analyst to join our Automated Digital Applications team. The Business Systems Analyst will engage with client stakeholders to understand requirements and business problems and how these need to be solved through the implementation of IT solutions.

What Will You Do?

Key Responsibility:

Scoping & Systems Analysis

• Engage with business stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges, processes and system requirements.

• Facilitate requirements gathering workshops, interviews and JAD sessions.

• Analyse and document business processes, workflows, functional requirements and user experience requirements.

• Translate business requirements into detailed functional and system requirements that can be implemented by development teams.

• Produce clear Analysis and Design documentation, including functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows and solution requirements.

• Analyse and document complex business rules, validations, workflows, system behaviours, exceptions and dependencies.

• Define and document data requirements, including entities, field definitions, relationships and source-to-target data mappings.

• Analyse and document integrations between applications, APIs, databases and third-party systems, including integration triggers, data flows, mappings, validation and error-handling requirements.

• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, edge cases and assumptions within requirements and drive these to resolution before development.

• Maintain traceability between business requirements, functional design, development and testing.

Development Support

• Act as the key link between client stakeholders, Solution Architects, UX/UI specialists and development teams.

• Ensure developers have sufficient functional detail to build solutions with minimal ambiguity or undocumented assumptions.

• Work with technical teams to ensure proposed designs are feasible and aligned to the agreed solution architecture.

• Clarify requirements and functional behaviour throughout the development lifecycle.

• Review developed functionality against agreed requirements and design documentation.

• Identify, track and support the resolution of functional issues during development and testing.

Implementation

• Develop test scenarios and test cases based on agreed requirements and solution design.

• Perform functional testing and quality assurance to validate delivered solutions.

• Support client UAT and assist with the investigation and resolution of defects or requirement gaps.

• Ensure delivered solutions meet agreed business and functional requirements.

• Support the development of user documentation and training material where required.

Technical

• Develop a strong working understanding of the Microsoft technology stack, with particular focus on Microsoft Power Platform.

• Understand how business requirements translate into Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, Dataverse/SharePoint/SQL data structures, integrations, security roles and application behaviour.

• Be able to work effectively with Solution Architects and developers to analyse and design integrated business applications.

• Experience analysing Power Platform solutions, integrations and data structures is strongly preferred; hands-on development experience is advantageous but not required

Who Do You Need to Be?

Essential

• 4 –5+ years' Business Analysis and/or Systems Analysis experience within software or application implementation projects.

• Demonstrable experience producing detailed functional and system analysis/design documentation for complex business applications.

• Experience documenting system integrations, data flows and detailed field/data mappings.

• Strong understanding of business processes, system workflows, business rules, data structures and application behaviour.

• Experience translating complex business requirements into clear, build-ready functional specifications.

• Experience working directly with developers, Solution Architects and technical teams throughout the SDLC.

• Ability to identify gaps, edge cases, dependencies and exceptions within business and system requirements.

• Experience across requirements, design, development support, testing and implementation. 

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

• Excellent written communication, documentation and presentation skills, with strong attention to detail and quality.

• Ability to work independently with business and technical stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.

• Strong organisational, prioritisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.

Advantageous

• IT Degree (BCom/BSc/BTech) or similar.

• Business Analysis or Systems Analysis certification.

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.

• Experience with Dataverse, SharePoint, SQL, APIs or other integration technologies.

• Experience with process and solution modelling tools such as Visio.

• Experience in low-code/no-code development and automation platforms such as Nintex, Power Apps or Automation Anywhere.
