Role summary:
The Senior Manager, Automation Engineering serves as a strategic leader responsible for shaping the future design, capacity, and performance of Walmart's automation network. This role evaluates automation technologies, system architectures, operational requirements, and future volume forecasts to define automation strategies, facility designs, and labor plans that support long-term network growth. The position develops and maintains the engineering models, planning assumptions, dashboards, and analytics that inform automation investments, annual operating plans, and executive decision-making.
About the team:
Our team leads Walmart's automation engineering strategy across the RDC network, determining how future automation solutions should be designed, sized, and deployed to support evolving business needs. We partner closely with Operations, Finance, Product, and Engineering to evaluate automation technologies, optimize network capacity, and guide long-term facility design decisions. Through engineering expertise, data-driven analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, we help shape the future of Walmart's supply chain while driving scalable, sustainable improvements in performance, productivity, and service.
What you'll do:

• Lead automation network planning and engineering efforts that shape Walmart's future supply chain strategy.
• Develop models that determine automation system sizing, throughput requirements, labor needs, and network capacity.
• Evaluate automation technologies, material flow concepts, and operational data to inform facility design and automation investments.
• Define system configurations, planning assumptions, and operational requirements that support future network expansion.
• Partner across Operations, Finance, Product, Engineering, and external partners to evaluate scenarios and drive strategic decisions.
• Deliver executive-ready insights, dashboards, and recommendations that influence automation strategy and capital planning.

What you'll bring:

• Expertise in automation engineering, material flow systems, and supply chain operations.
• Experience evaluating automation solutions and applying engineering principles to optimize system performance, capacity, and labor outcomes.
• Strong understanding of automation architectures, system sizing, throughput analysis, and facility design tradeoffs.
• Ability to translate volume forecasts and business requirements into automation engineering recommendations.
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and communicate complex concepts to executive audiences.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning capabilities.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...
