Realty Income is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our in-house team. Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, the Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for supporting Realty Income Corporation’s tax and joint-venture compliance.
This role operates in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment and requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to drive process improvements. The Senior Tax Accountant will collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Tax Compliance:
· Prepare and review workpapers supporting the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for REIT, partnerships, joint ventures and other entities.
· Maintain and update recurring tax compliance schedules and tax returns for federal, state, and municipal filings related to our joint ventures.
· Support the management of the tax compliance calendar by tracking filling obligations across all legal entities.
· Prepare and process tax payments, including quarterly estimated tax payments for REIT, partnerships and joint ventures.
· Monitor and review notices from taxing authorities, analyze issues, and assist in preparing timely responses.
· Prepare and maintain fixed asset roll forwards for REIT, partnership entities, and joint ventures.
· Review processes and work throughout the team to simplify and digitize.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Solid Knowledge of U.S. and international income tax compliance and accounting principles.
· Experience with research of taxing authorities’ procedures and preparation of forms.
· General knowledge of legal business entities and structure, including joint ventures.
· Strong communication skills.
· The ability to work in a fast-changing dynamic work environment and follow instructions.
· Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
· Excellent PC skills including tax compliance software, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret tax forms and financial data
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Desire to work in a growth environment, contribute to improved processes, and demonstrate continuous learning capabilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
· We expect at least 2+ years of previous tax preparation experience.
· Certified Public Accountant license (or currently pursuing) and/or enrolled agent preferred.
For candidates in San Diego, this position is based in our San Diego (Del Mar Heights) headquarters. Monday through Thursday are in-office for collaboration, with the opportunity to work remotely on Friday. For candidates outside of San Diego this will be a remote position.
The pay range for this role is $73,821 - $89,096 - $106,822.
Offers near the high end are uncommon but may be considered for candidates with exceptional experience and skills and are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, to be discussed during the interview process. An annual pay rate and total compensation package is generally determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
