Description
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance on shredders, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and associated plant equipment.
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with maintenance schedules.
- Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements.
- Accurately record maintenance activities and report equipment defects or emerging issues.
- Support plant shutdowns, refurbishments, and improvement projects.
- Work safely in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures, permit systems, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within workshops and operational areas.
- Travel to other Leicester sites as required to support engineering activities.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification or completed apprenticeship.
- Experience maintaining industrial machinery, conveyors, shredders, or rotating plant.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of planned preventative maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of safe isolation procedures and maintenance best practices.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience working within recycling, waste, manufacturing, or process industries.
- Knowledge of PUWER and LOLER requirements.
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Welding, fabrication, or additional engineering qualifications.
