Position Summary:
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Supervisor is responsible for leading and continuously improving the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs for the El Paso Distribution Center. This position serves as the site's subject matter expert and strategic leader for regulatory compliance, risk management, injury prevention, safety culture development, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The EHS Supervisor partners with site leadership to establish a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and corporate requirements, and drive sustainable improvements in safety performance. This role provides leadership for safety programs, incident investigations, employee training, compliance audits, emergency preparedness, and environmental management systems while supporting operational excellence objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and continuously improve the site's Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, company policies, and other applicable regulations.
Serve as the facility's subject matter expert on EHS matters and partner with leadership to develop and execute the site's safety strategy.
Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, leadership coaching, safety committees, training, and behavioral-based safety initiatives.
Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and workplace inspections to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
Lead investigations of injuries, near misses, and safety incidents using structured problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Develop, maintain, and administer required EHS programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory records, including OSHA 300 logs and related documentation.
Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors receive appropriate safety training and comply with established safety requirements.
Manage environmental compliance activities, including hazardous material handling, waste management, spill prevention, and reporting requirements.
Support facility projects, process changes, and operational initiatives to ensure EHS risks are identified and mitigated before implementation.
Monitor, analyze, and communicate EHS performance metrics, trends, and improvement opportunities to site and corporate leadership.
Lead emergency preparedness programs, response planning, and coordination with local emergency agencies.
Participate in corporate EHS initiatives, audits, and best practice sharing across the distribution network.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Serve as a member of the site leadership team and provide guidance on EHS risks, priorities, and performance.
Drive a culture of safety ownership and accountability through employee engagement, leadership coaching, and behavioral safety initiatives.
Establish annual EHS objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and improvement plans to achieve world-class safety performance.
Lead site safety committees and employee engagement programs.
- Spend significant time in operational areas conducting observations, coaching employees, identifying hazards, and promoting safe work behaviors.
Preferred education, experiences & skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
Minimum 5-7 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or industrial environment.
Demonstrated experience managing OSHA compliance programs and safety management systems.
Experience leading incident investigations and implementing corrective action programs.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and warehouse/distribution center safety requirements.
Professional certifications such as:
CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
ASP (Associate Safety Professional)
CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager)
OSHA 30-Hour Certification
Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or CBSL initiatives.
Multi-site EHS support experience.
Experience managing environmental compliance programs.
Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills strongly preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee will be exposed to moderate noise level. Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold. High forklift traffic.
SCHEDULE:
Standard working hours are Monday – Friday, 8am to 4:30pm MST. As business dictates there may be the need to work outside of these hours including Saturdays.
