Description
Do you love working with kids and making a positive impact on your community? The City of Burien's Recreation Division is seeking enthusiastic, dependable individuals passionate about supporting safe, engaging, and memorable experiences for elementary and middle school youth. In this role, you will support recreation staff with day-to-day programming and serve as a positive role model for youth.

Schedule: 0-19 hours per week
Shifts: Monday - Thursday hours are typically 2:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Friday hours are typically 1:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
Duration: September 2026 through June 2027, approximately
Employment Type: This position is nonexempt, temporary, and intermittent.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the supervision of youth participants at assigned programming sites
- Assist in program and activity development
- Assist in the setup and takedown of programming materials and equipment
- May provide transportation for youth using a city van to various sites. (Incumbents over 21 only)
Education and/or Experience
- One year of experience in youth programs, with one year of college coursework in Recreation, Education, and/or related field or
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, experience, knowledge, and abilities which would allow an individual to perform the duties of the position will be considered.
Special Requirements
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
- Applicants age 21 and over may be required to provide transportation. If so, a Valid Washington State Driver's license and satisfactory driving record will be required.
- Valid First Aid and Child and Adult CPR Certification within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to obtain a public health department food handler's permit may be required
