Bookkeeper

If you’re the kind of finance professional who likes to know that the books are right, the recons balance and nothing is left hanging at month-end, this could be a really good move.

We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Bookkeeper / Accountant to join a close-knit finance team within an established business operating in the mining and granite sector.

This isn’t a role where you’ll sit in one little corner of finance doing one repetitive task. You’ll take ownership across the accounting cycle, work closely with the Financial Manager and broader finance leadership, and be part of a busy environment where accuracy, pace and follow-through really matter.

It will suit someone who enjoys getting stuck into the detail, can work independently and isn’t afraid to follow up, challenge discrepancies or deal confidently with operational stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day accounting records and help ensure that the finance function runs accurately and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining the general ledger and accurate accounting records
• Processing and reconciling bank accounts, credit cards and petty cash
• Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintaining the fixed asset register
• Taking the books through to trial balance
• Assisting with monthly management accounts
• Managing debtors and creditors
• Processing invoices, receipts and supplier payments
• Monitoring debtor and creditor age analyses
• Assisting with cash flow forecasting
• Preparing VAT reconciliations and assisting with VAT201 submissions
• Assisting with PAYE, UIF, SDL, EMP201 and EMP501 requirements
• Supporting payroll processing and reconciliations where required
• Preparing year-end schedules and supporting audit requirements
• Assisting with budgets, expense monitoring and improving financial processes
