Associate Director, Capital Planning & Reporting

What is the opportunity?

A finance professional with strong financial and presentation acumen will serve as a key source of comprehensive analysis of RBC's capital position—actual and forecasted—supporting senior executives including the CFO, Treasurer, ALCO, GE, and the Board. This role leverages automation and AI to streamline processes, drive operational efficiency, and deliver actionable capital recommendations that inform strategic decision-making across the organization.

What will you do?

• Provide comprehensive quantitative and qualitative analysis of RBC's regulatory capital position (CET1, Tier1, Total Capital, Leverage, TLAC, TLAC Leverage ratio) and deliver actionable recommendations to senior management
• Identify high-impact opportunities to leverage AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to enhance forecasting accuracy, automate manual analyses, and accelerate capital planning, sensitivities, and monitoring processes
• Assess compliance with regulatory capital requirements, internal risk appetite thresholds, and Board-approved limits; identify gaps and escalate risks proactively
• Perform capital adequacy assessments and forward-looking capital trends; communicate results through compelling visual presentations and executive summaries
• Lead quantitative and qualitative scenario analysis of capital implications arising from strategic projects, business initiatives, accounting changes, regulatory updates, and structured transactions
• Collaborate with business units and subject matter experts to validate assumptions and ensure analytical rigor of capital forecasts
• Lead development and execution of RBC's Capital Plan and Strategic Outlook; communicate capital assumptions, constraints, and implications across the organization
• Communicate limit compliance status, capital trends, and forward-looking risks through dashboards and presentations that enable informed governance and decision-making
• Benchmark RBC's capital and performance profiles against peers to inform strategic direction

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

• Pertinent university degree or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience in finance and/or regulatory capital
• Excellent analytical and research skills
• Advanced proficiency in database management, spreadsheet design, and presentation development
• Strong written and oral communication
• Proven ability to work across business platforms and collaborate with senior professionals

Nice-to-have:

• Graduate university degree, CPA, CFA, or equivalent experience
• Modelling capability to assess transaction scenarios
• Experience with AI transformation and advanced analytics integration
