About the Ransom Center
The Ransom Center is an internationally renowned humanities research library and museum at The University of Texas at Austin. Its extensive collections provide unique insight into the creative process of writers and artists, deepening our understanding and appreciation of literature, photography, film, art, and the performing arts. Visitors engage with the Center's collections through research and study, exhibitions, publications, and a rich variety of program offerings including readings, talks, symposia, and film screenings.
Purpose:
This position works with the archivists in the Archival Processing Unit and will assist with the activities that prepare literary, performing arts, and film archives for use by researchers.
Responsibilities:
Sorting manuscripts, letters, photographs, clippings, and other documents (archival arrangement).
Removing paperclips and rubber bands from archival documents, removing materials from envelopes, photocopying clippings and faxes, sleeving photographs (archival preservation).
Filing materials into archival folders and boxes, labeling folders and boxes, moving archival boxes to the collection stacks (archival preservation).
Special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Meet satisfactory academic progress standards as set by the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid.
Must be enrolled in appropriate credit hours as required by the student's academic or non-academic title.
Must be able to work ten hours a week between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m (Monday-Friday).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Highly detail oriented.
Have a team orientation with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Interest in learning about the arts and humanities.
Salary Range:
$10.00-15.00 per hour

Usual office conditions.
Work under pressure of deadlines.
Potential exposure to mold.
Position Duration:
This is a Fall 2026 position. The position may continue into the Spring semester if the student's Work Study Award is renewed for that semester.
Work Shift:
10 worked per week.
Monday-Friday between the hours of 10am-5pm.
This is for an onsite (non-remote) position.
