Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical Senior Analyst to join our Team. The role will focus on underwriting and executing pan-European real estate investments and developments, including financial modelling, deal research and investment committee materials. The Senior Analyst will support opportunities from initial screening through due diligence, approval and execution, and provide analysis across the existing portfolio.
The successful candidate will be a proficient real estate modeller, able to prepare clear, high-quality investment committee memoranda and presentations with appropriate senior review. The role requires commercial judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams across European markets.
The role also requires an understanding of ESG and sustainability matters, together with the practical use of AI to support, but not replace, professional judgement in underwriting, research and investment committee preparation.
Key Job functions
- Build, audit and maintain real estate investment models, including acquisition and development appraisals, cash flows, sensitivities, returns analysis, joint venture waterfalls and debt structures.
- Prepare investment committee memoranda and presentations covering the investment thesis, key assumptions, returns, downside cases, risks and strategic rationale.
- Undertake market, asset, tenant and transaction research to support investment theses and underwriting assumptions across European markets.
- Apply an understanding of logistics real estate, occupier requirements and development and asset management considerations to underwriting.
- Analyse and communicate market, transaction, occupational and capital markets data, with clear sourcing for key assumptions.
- Maintain deal pipeline reports, underwriting summaries, due diligence trackers and decision logs.
- Coordinate with agents, consultants, legal advisers, lenders and other external parties to progress due diligence and identify issues requiring escalation.
- Undertake ad hoc commercial and portfolio analysis and help improve investment processes, templates and data quality.
- Use approved AI tools to support deal research, document review, model checking and investment committee drafting. Validate outputs, record sources and assumptions, and comply with confidentiality and information-security requirements.
Key Job Relationships
Work as part of the Team, taking ownership of high-quality analysis and clearly communicating conclusions, risks and recommendations.
Collaborate with internal colleagues and external parties, including agents, consultants, advisers, lenders, sponsors, energy and construction professionals and logistics occupiers.
Person Specification
Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business or another relevant quantitative discipline. CFA, ACA or a relevant postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
Typically three or more years’ relevant experience in real estate private equity, investment, investment banking, transaction advisory or a related field, with demonstrable transaction underwriting experience.
- Advanced financial modelling skills and high proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to build and audit models independently and present analysis clearly.
- A ‘can do’ attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Experience with real estate investment, development, valuation, market-data or portfolio-management platforms is advantageous.
- Strong data literacy and the ability to reconcile and analyse information from multiple sources, with a clear evidence base for key assumptions.
- Experience in logistics or industrial real estate is strongly preferred.
- Pan-European transaction experience, or experience analysing investments across several European jurisdictions, is preferred.
- Professional proficiency in another European language is desirable.
- Proficiency in using AI for investment research, underwriting support, document analysis, model review and investment committee materials, with appropriate source verification, confidentiality and human review.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain assumptions, risks and modelling outputs to senior decision-makers.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team.
- Commitment to staying informed about evolving ESG trends and practices.
