Business Systems Analyst - Operational Business Technology Solutions

As a Business Systems Analyst within Operational Business Technology Solutions, you will work across business operations, Technology teams, vendors, and project delivery partners to investigate needs, clarify requirements and risks, shape recommendations, and support solutions from intake through implementation and continuous improvement. Your goal will be to deliver practical, fit-for-purpose solutions that support operational business outcomes while balancing technology requirements, risks, constraints, and stakeholder needs. Your success will come from building strong relationships, communicating effectively, navigating ambiguity, identifying risks and dependencies early, and collaborating with teammates and stakeholders to deliver successful business and technology solutions.

Your Responsibilities:  

• Lead discovery with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges, current-state processes, desired outcomes, constraints, dependencies, and measures of success

• Translate business needs into clear and traceable requirements, acceptance criteria, process models, solution options, and recommendations

• Coordinate work across business stakeholders, Technology teams, vendors, project managers, architects, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and support teams

• Support delivery activities including intake management, stakeholder coordination, scheduling, change requests, and transition to support

• Monitor operational, technology, cybersecurity, and delivery risks and escalate concerns with recommended actions when required

• Prepare concise and decision-focused status updates, reports, and communications for stakeholders and leadership

• Build effective stakeholder relationships and promote shared understanding of business priorities, operational realities, technical constraints, and cybersecurity best practices

• Contribute to continuous improvement activities by sharing knowledge, supporting team members, and enhancing team processes and tools

Your Skills:  

• Strong business analysis and requirements gathering skills with the ability to translate business needs into practical solutions

• Ability to analyze complex problems, challenge assumptions, identify risks and dependencies, and recommend appropriate actions

• Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage both business and technical audiences

• Ability to organize complex work into clear, actionable deliverables and maintain traceability from problem identification through implementation and support

• Working knowledge of technology solution delivery lifecycles, including requirements, testing, implementation, support, and continuous improvement

• Proficiency with collaboration and delivery tools such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, ServiceNow, Planner, or similar platforms

Your Experience:  

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Five or more years of progressive experience in business systems analysis, solutions analysis, technology delivery, quality assurance, application ownership, or related roles

• Experience working with business stakeholders, Technology teams, vendors, and project delivery teams in operational, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, refinery, or similarly complex environments considered an asset

The expected annual salary range for this position is $66,267 - $87,804. Placement within the range will be based on relevant experience, qualifications and skills.
