General Accountant

Job Summary:

The General Accountant is responsible to provide general accounting support to the organization including but not limited to cash applications, accounts payable, accounts receivable, preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, month-end closing, supporting the budgeting and annual auditing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process the accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Audits all expense reports for approval signatures, accuracy, reasonableness and compliance with corporate policies.
• Enters, proofs and posts all corporate payables, expense reports and check requests into accounting software.
• Audits and reconciles vendor statements.
• Responsible for depositing, entering and posting miscellaneous cash transactions.
• Responsible for collecting, reconciling, and recording sales.
• Responsible for reviewing and recording of retail sales.
• Compile statistical, financial, accounting or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
• Assures property tax returns are completed by the Tax Department for each location.
• Reconciles multiple bank accounts.
• Participates in the monthly close process including preliminary review of financial statements, preparation and posting of adjusting journal entries, and explanation of budget to actual variances for assigned departments.
• Assists in preparation of the annual budget through analysis of accounts, researching data, and compiling reports.
• Act in accordance with corporate accounting policies and procedures; recommend new ideas or changes to current policies and procedures as needed.
• Perform various duties as assigned by management including special projects, cross train with other employees for back-up coverage, and assist in accounting support.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2-4 years related experience. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work).
• Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards.
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to understand processes and coordinates the process within the accounting rules.
• Strong attention to detail.
• High level of resourcefulness, initiative, and good judgment setting priorities and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet software applications.

Preferred Knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Experience and or knowledge within the sports and entertainment industry.
• Experience with Great Plains accounting software.

Working Conditions:

• Frequent visual/auditory attention.
• Exposure to moderate noise level.
